Automatically refresh Metadata

Hi,
Is it possible to configure a metadata agent to periodically refresh metadata for entries in libraries its assigned to?

Metadata (TVDB, AniDB, TMDB, IMDB, etc…) sources constantly get enriched with new/corrected information.

I am only currently aware of only two options of either (1) select “Refresh All Metadata” from a library level or (2) selecting “Refresh Metadata” when 1+ entries are selected within a library.

I believe the Plex Music libraries are the only ones that do this automatically currently on my server?

I would like to know what can be done to get other agents, be it from internally included “/Resources/Plug-ins-<hash>/*.bundle” agents or manually installed “/Library/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins/*.bundle” agents.

Having to constantly remember to manually refresh metadata only leads to bad/old/missing metadata. So I would like to know what setting in either the Plex Server or setting in the Agent’s configuration could be set for Plex to automatically refresh entry metadata and have a more automatically maintained server.

Note, I am not talking about any scan frequency. I’m talking only about auto refreshing of metadata for long added entries. And also not talking about the LocalMedia that according to what I have read, will do this periodically if enabled in the Plex Server settings.

You can enable metadata updates as a scheduled task during your Plex Media Server’s maintenance. This is however a per-server setting, so Plex will look for updates to all of your libraries – not just for individual libraries.
See Settings > [Server Name] > Scheduled Tasks > Refresh local metadata every three days

Edit: There’s no restriction to certain sources or agents

Hi tom80H,
That setting has been enabled for ages and it does not apply to other agents.
As it states in that support doc you linked, it is for “the local media agent” only.
So it does not apply/help here and is what I noted already at the end of my first post as a known/unrelated. Granted I did not specify the setting in question. But it was this one you raised.

you’re right… I had missed that line.
