I just purchased a new laptop and noticed that I could not save my Plex auto login (running plex Home) as it would not remember the tick on the ‘Automatically Sign In’ option. This would not be remeberd both in Plex web (Firefox and Edge) and Plex for Windows.
Also tried removing tick on another PC and that would not be rembered either (so tick persisted).
In the web app, I blame the cookies from plex.tv not being retained.
Make sure to tell the web browser to not discard them.
Sometimes there are 3rd-party apps on the computer which “clean up” the computer and “enhance the privacy” of the user by doing the same. If you have such an app, make sure to define suitable exceptions in its preferences.
As for the native Plex app, I haven’t really an idea. I only know that only the owner of the Plex home (i.e. the user account which installed the server) is allowed to change this setting. Verify that you haven’t “Switched User” to a different member of your Plex Home.
I don’t think it is cookies. This is across three different browsers (Edge, Chrome and Firefox) on 2 different PC’s all showing the same behavior. This is mix of existing browsers that I have been using Plex of for ages and also new browsers that I have just set up with Plex.
I am definitely logged is as the PMS admin for the Plex Home.
Also re the Plex for Windows app - a lot of the code base is the same (HTML stuff) so I think this looks like a bug.
PS For the Chrome and Edge browsers there are definitely no 3rd party add-ons installed at all and I never use so called “cleanup” apps.
OK - I think this is all my fault so scrap this thread - sorry for inconvenience caused!

I’m having a similar issue. I have always had ‘automatic sign in’ CHECKED. Then this month (or was it this week?) I go into the Plex Server from my task bar like I’ve always done and now it’s asking me to sign in every time. Even if I close my browser and come right back in, I’m being asked to sign in and the tick mark for ‘automatic sign in’ is being un-ticked.
