Automating Server updates

i want to automate the process updating PMS on my qnap ( i know i know…bad idea, but i want to)
I found this post that suggests the commands needed to run via qnap command line to update the package.

My question is… Is the download link a consistent link, or does it change with each new package update?

It changes, since version is part the download link

damn… looks like i’m sticking with the manual way… at least until i come up with another way to do it.
Thanks for the reply.

Well, you could look at this url:

https://plex.tv/updater/products/5/check.xml?build=linux-x86_64&channel=4&distribution=qnap

And then grap the needed info from that!

I understand this might not be super useful, but - I run Plex on Fedora, and I just use the AutoUpdates package. Obviously you need to enable the Plex repo.

As far as notifications, I use SendGrid’s SMTP servers for all of my basic system notifications for things like updates.

Thanks! I may give this a shot

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll have a look and see if there’s an autopackage update somewhere…so far with the stock repo on qnap i don’t see one, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it doesn’t exist either…
