What's the current PMS update process for QNAP?

This is probably the simplest question ever.

I’m considering using my QNAP NAS as my PMS, and I’ve noticed the version in their App Center (v1.20.1) is not the current version on the Plex web site (1.21.1.3876 for non-beta). I checked Plex’s documentation on the QNAP PMS download page, and searched these forums, but I didn’t find an obvious method, unless I missed it. (Also, btw the tutorial link on that PMS download page is currently broken).

So, what’s the recommended update process for PMS on QNAP? SSH and do an apt upgrade? Manual download?

(Out of curiosity, is this process different for Synology?)

Download the QPKG from Plex.

App Center
Manual Install
Upload the Plex package.

apt is Debian/Ubuntu – not QNAP.

Every distro (workstation or NAS) has a different process.
