Automic film collection?

Hi everyone,
I updated yesterday to the latest Plex version and I wanted to use the new collecton feature.
I wanted to know if I have to manually setup every collection or there is some way to automaticlly do it

Can someone help me please?

There is only one way to get automatic collections: to fetch the collection from TheMovieDatabase.

BUT: I cannot recommend this at all, because TMDB only allows collections for direct sequels and prequels. No thematic collections or ‘universe’-oriented.
You’d only get a lot of one-movie collections which someone created at TMDB, just in case there is a gonna be a sequel…

Definitely.

If you update metadata in existing library quite a number of good collections do get created automatically (though as mentioned not themed) . I just depends on the size of your library how long it takes to do this.

Only if either

  • your files are in mp4 format and have the ‘Album’ meta tag populated
  • you have indeed activated the automatic fetching of collection info from TMDB

Realized now that my webapp version is still 3.31 even if I have the latest Plex version avayble for everyone! is this normal?

You can use them. Simply load the web app from https://app.plex.tv/desktop as explained in the linked article.

Thanks! I didn’t get that those link was working.
But I don’t get what it is: If I connect to my nas using https://app.plex.tv/desktop insteal of http://IPofMyNas:2400 I’m still connecting to my nas or to a remote server?

You are still connecting to your NAS. Only the web app that runs in your web browser is a newer release.
