Autotag Throttled - No photos have been tagged

Server Version#: 1.21.0.3616

I’m a new Plex Pass subscriber and was excited to move my photos into Plex. The collection is small right now, only about 1200. I’m aware of the 1000 autotags per month limit, but I haven’t gotten a single photo tagged and the service just keeps telling me I’m throttled.

Here’s some relevant logs, but I doubt they’ll be very helpful:

Dec 03, 2020 23:28:54.433 [0x7f373effd700] Debug — Request: [127.0.0.1:34716 (Loopback)] PUT /services/imagga/process/5166 (13 live) GZIP Signed-in Token (CleverCorvid)
Dec 03, 2020 23:28:54.434 [0x7f37e9088700] Debug — Completed: [127.0.0.1:34716] 200 PUT /services/imagga/process/5166 (13 live) GZIP 0ms 166 bytes
Dec 03, 2020 23:28:54.436 [0x7f371f7fe700] Warning — AutoTagging: the service is currently throttled, skipping item 5166

Thanks for the help

I see a bunch of threads with people having this problem, but none of them have a solution. Can I please get a reply from someone at Plex?

Bumping this again. Can I please get a reply from someone at Plex?

I have the same problem. Just subscribed - no tags at all…

Me too, same problem.

This problem isn’t going away. There’s tons of PAYING customers suffering from this issue. Can we at least get a comment saying it’s being looked at?

Same here. I have a new PLEX Premium account just started a Week ago. Everything works beside the Photo Tagging feature (What’s one of the major features why I got Premium in the first place) and my Console is flooded with this:

Jan 08, 2021 09:50:54.795 [0x597f7430] Warnung — AutoTagging: the service is currently throttled, skipping item 2340
Jan 08, 2021 09:50:54.825 [0x597f7430] Warnung — AutoTagging: the service is currently throttled, skipping item 2341
Jan 08, 2021 09:50:54.899 [0x597f7430] Warnung — AutoTagging: the service is currently throttled, skipping item 2342
Jan 08, 2021 09:50:54.911 [0x597f7430] Warnung — AutoTagging: the service is currently throttled, skipping item 2343

I found may Threads about that issue over the last year so it is for sure not just a temporary problem. This is really annoying as I want to add my whole Photo Library to the server soon ( just tested it with my Wallpaper Collection).

Folks,

I’m going to try and catch up on this issue, collect whatever’s needed, and submit it to engineering to figure out.

May I have some DEBUG log file ZIPs which have these errors in them

-AND-

May I have approximate counts of how many photos are to be tagged ?
(to help them understand where the current threshold is versus the need).

In my case I have 691 Pictures on my Plex Server. It is just my Wallpaper Collection right now that consists 95% of Photos and some Art pictures.

This is a brand new Server, set up just yesterday and also a new Plex Premium Account, created a few days ago.

Not a single picture was auto tagged and I saw the Throttled Message in the log from the first second I activated the taging feature the first time yesterday.

I don’t wanna sync my personal Photo Library yet until this work, as I have it in my cloud drive anyway. The Tagging Feature would be the single reason for me to transfer the collection to PLEX, if it works well.

Just making sure everyone knows what to actually look for. It’s not unusual for people to think autotagging is not working when it actually is. Several cases just this week on this forum.

To check:

1> Drill down to the photo level
2> Click edit > tags
3> See Autotags box

If you’re asserting no photos have been tagged then this box should be blank for all.

The Autotag Box is blank on all pictures and the log is flooded with service throttled messages after adding pictures. So yes the feature is for sure not working.

and all posts here in the forum I saw about the topic are closed unresoved as the threads where closed with inactivity and no answer or confirmation about a fix.

You didn’t see all of them it would appear

The autotag box is empty on every photo.

Thank you for finally getting this issue in front of some devs. Here is my full logs after updating to the latest Plex, running Analyze on my Photo Library, and running a photo sync from my phone.

Of note, it seems like the issue has changed in this version. I’m not longer seeing the throttled messages from before, I am seeing many instances of this

Jan 08, 2021 22:26:05.543 [0x7f36707f8700] DEBUG - AutoTagging: processing /photos/2020-11-29 17.07.56.jpg (id: 6046). Current Version 1

Still, when I check the images referenced, no tags have been added to the autotag field.

I’ve finished setting up a photo library.
All 500 photos should autotag tonight during maintenance.

Tomorrow, we will be able to see what’s actually going on.

This might be a hint:
I looked at the website of the tagging service that is used by PLEX and they have a tagging demo page. The Categorization and the NSFW check both work fine but the Tagging Feature is not working even in their demo. Maybe the whole service is corrupted since a while?

UPDATE: Nevermind. It was my Adblocker messing with the website

Any news about that issue.
I still have not a single tagged photo and the logs are still full with throttled service message every night.

Hey @ChuckPa any news? I’m waiting for this feature myself.

I sent it up to Engineering.
Sorry for not following up as I should have.

I will ask again.

Are you still collecting logs for this? I have about 6,000 to be tagged but I’m throttled at item 90,000… None have been tagged and I don’t know where the 90,000 is coming from.
