B-52s Lyrics not 'locking in'

This is related to a broader lyrics issue I am encountering:

Trying to debug lack of lyrics - Log file not always updated

Server Version#: 1.21.0.3711 Player Version#: Windows 1.24.0.1483-714cba36 (File removed) I have ‘reset’ my plex library (i.e. changed to a different server and now trying to follow the proper folder/file naming conventions) and noticed a lot of songs not having lyrics. In my previous server, the lyrics were available for ~85% of the tracks, now it is about 2%. I have had this server up an running for about two weeks, so I would think that would be plenty of time to pull the lyrics. While …

But, this is a different failure mode that may be a bit easier. I am in my album view and I enable the ‘Refresh Metadata’ action on my B-52s album “Time Capsule: Songs for a Future Generation”. The little circle turns and completes, but the lyrics are not added. Other metadata (picture of the band, info of the band, etc.) are just fine.

What is different about this problem from my earlier one is that in the log file, I can actually see it trying to pull the lyrics. I can’t imagine lyricfinder not having these songs, but I don’t know how it works (I can’t seem to type in a song and see if they have the lyrics). Maybe if I use a different album for these songs?

Regardless, the log zip file is attached, but the log file I am referencing is the comp.plexapp.agents.lyricfind.log

P.S. I thought maybe I had figured it out. I noticed that the metadata for the track had album artist is “The B-52s” while the artist was “The B-52’s” (note the apostrophe). The apostrophe is the ‘official’ way to spell their name. Regardless, I changed the artist name to match the album artist, both with and without the apostrophe, and no luck in getting the lyrics. I then noticed the album has the artist as “The B52s”, but when I add the apostrophe to that Plex removes it.

Thanks Trumpy81. I think you are hitting upon one of my concerns that lyricfind is tied to an album instead of just the artist and the song title. I would hope the latter, since that would allow a larger search pool of finding lyrics if a song can be found on multiple albums; otherwise, the lyrics could exist but linked to a specific album. I can certainly see how including the album can help refine the search, though.

Well, no lyrics for me. How about you? If not, then I could find the original albums for these songs and ‘remap’ them in Plex. Maybe lyricfind would work with those. It is a shame if that works as it implies their lookup algorithm is very strict. Ideally they could combine the Shazam song identification algorithm with their lyrics. Oh well.
