I have live albums that I want to navigate view folder hierarchy, and concert videos by band, resolution and year that I sort by folder due to the absence of navigation bar, when I just want to see the folder structure. Not only did I lose the back button the latest release, always requiring me to drill down again, but even when I choose folders I have bo way to browse a “Folder” structure. Please AT LEAST give back the normal behavior for back, or give us a modification key to hit for the classic behavior - but ideally add a folder navigator for when we choose to display by folder!
I want the back button to go back to the previous page. Really annoying that this feature is broken and takes you to the home screen.
For the Windows 10 Plex app, something changed in a recent update where the back button directs to the home screen instead of the last viewed screen. For example, if I select my movies list from the sidebar on the left of the screen, then select a movie to read synapse, cast, etc. then click the back button (back arrow at the top of the page) it goes to the home screen instead of my movies list. How can this be fixed?
From what I’ve seen this is a known issue that was introduced with the latest version (1.34).
Heh, yeah, it was reported quite widely at the time. I hadn’t noticed that, I was more worried about the app performance problems that same patch added to it.
As far as I know, they cancelled the app version release to deal with the performance issue. I don’t know if they fixed that version and re-released it, as I am now pretty skittish to “update” my player app after that.
Did you just update/install this Plex windows app?
This is maddening. Why would the back button do the same thing as the home button? Every time I want to go back to the artist from the album I end up home and have to navigate to the artist again.
Same thing is happening here, without knowing the ins and outs, if this is a widely known and complained about issue, why the hell not patch it, there have been at least 3 updates since this has started happening. It’s an absolute nightmare navigating. You can’t browse, you have to commit to your choice otherwise you have to click the back button and navigate all the way back to where you were.
I came here looking for a reason for this change in Plex behaviour and hoped for a fix. Looks like no such luck. How annoying.
Server Version#: 1.24.2.4973
Player Version#: 1.34.1.2590-74ea7099
In the current version (as specified) on an arm64 Mac (don’t know about x86 Mac, haven’t tried), the BACK button doesn’t go back - it always goes to HOME…
I have the same issue. Mac Mini M1, PMS 1.24.2.4973-2b1b51db9 / Plex 1.34.1
Noted. I’ve just done the same. I notice the version on the website is:
Windows 10 or later (64-bit Intel or AMD processors only)
1.33.0.2444-a220eae4
June 16, 2021
Which is an earlier working build.
I believe v1.34.1.2590-74ea7099 was pulled due to performance issues on Windows. There is a test build of v1.34.1.2601-ff212e16 available through the forums which fixes those but it unfortunately doesn’t fix the problems with the Back button ![]()
You’ll also note that v1.33, whilst is a lot better than v1.34, it does have some rather strange navigational issues when using the Back button.
Good to see that the lag issue is not my system. I didn’t think to bundle that into the back button issue.
But no worries. It seems that these are simple issues to be addressed with the next update. PLEX!
I see that v1.35.1.2632-c6783c78 fixes the major issue that v1.34.1 introduced. However, I’m still having issues on pages that have multiple tabs. For example:
- Load Plex for Windows
- Navigate to Live TV & DVR - The Guide is my default tab
- Navigate to the DVR Schedule tab
- Navigate to Movies - Libraries in my default tab
- Press the Back button - I am returned to the DVR Schedule tab as expected
- Press the Back button again - The application appears to do nothing and I stay on the DVR Schedule tab where as the Guide should be displayed
- Press the Back button again - I am returned to the Home screen, as expected, and the Back button is disabled
Similar can also be observed in Movie and Music libraries if switching between Recommended, Library and Collection or Playlist for example.
FYI - My Windows app had no updates available so I assume it was the most recent. Last night I uninstalled it and reinstalled, and the back button works as intended. I’m guessing they screwed something up in between upgrades and a “fresh” install nukes whatever that problem was. So if anyone is still running into this, just uninstall the Windows player app (not the server) and reinstall, that may fix it for you like it did for me.
Edit: from other posts, it looks like there was an update available, but they screwed up the update process in the last build so it couldn’t update which was also causing the weird crashing I was getting. They definitely need a better QA process, it’s shocking how often releases are borked.
Did that also fix the issues with using the back button on libraries with multiple tabs - for example when switching between Guide and DVR Schedule under Live TV & DVR ?
Cheers
