Why is the matching from plex so bad?
I’d view the title in imdb.com word for word and plex fails to match. Here’s another example
I’ve notices that it tries to match Title (2007) to “Title (2007)” year 2019.

Try ‘Fix Match’ and then ‘Search Options’. Set the agent to TheMovieDatabase. Don’t forget to set the language.
This is a ‘TV Movie’. But the ‘Plex Movie’ agent has only access to data of ‘cinema movies’.
I’m guessing it’s not a perfect match because there’s a 2005 movie by the same title. I don’t know that it’s worth the time trying to understand how Plex makes that percentage decision, but it’s an interesting question.
There’s more info if PMS is in debug mode to be found in the various agent logs.
PMS - Plex Movie - is unable to match “TV Movies” with “Plex Movie”. Period. End of Story. No Documentaries either. It’s a Black Hole.
If you want to match items like that - use TMDB - as Otto has recommended ('cause it’s the only way - and he knows that) (actually, if you use Plex Movie - the ONLY thing you want is trailers or extras - every other thing is compromised to a degree that is laughable should you continue in that venture) (IMDB and Plex is a stand-up comedy show - and a pretty good one).
The above user, JuiceWSA, has made dozens of posts disrespecting staff here. I found them to be irregular, and I called the user out for it a few months ago in a public thread. It seems they’ve taken up harassing me as retaliation.
That being said, let’s look at the facts: I just created a film named Aliens Gone Wild (2007).mkv, put it in my Movies library and scanned.
It matched the first time. Here are the settings I happen to be using.
So while I understand the joy in harassing me, I’m disappointed again by the utter failure.
It only took me 30sec to test this for Pete’s sake.
