Problem with Plex Movie Agent, can't find good search result

So from today, Plex Movie agent behaves weirdly. Even when there is entry in IMDB or Movie Database, adding movies won’t match them, as in, even in the search result of manually matching the movie it won’t find the correct movie.

Example movies:

You can try to rename any .mkv or mp4 into any the name of those movies above to test and it won’t match.
Manually matching won’t result any good search result.

I notice this problem is from today. New movies I added today have problem with matching, some of movies were fixed after I removed and manually match them, some are just like above, no match.

???

Two of your examples are ‘TV Movies’. Those cannot be matched with the Plex Movie agent.
Use Fix Match/Match to manually match them with TheMovieDatabase.

I’m not sure about the taiwanese movie.

The Movie Database can’t match them. and you are wrong, Maigret TV movies and other TV movies can always be matched with Plex Movie Agent.

Proof:

All TV Movies I have have been matched with Plex Movie Agent and I have hundreds of them.

Even the same Maigret: Night at the Crossroads (2017) was matched with Plex Movie Agent in the past.

From today, it can’t do that for the same movie name

only half true…
This always depends on data availability. In case of Maigret it appears there’s a wild mix.
There’s the tv show available in The Movie Database and The TVDB. In both databases, the episode you refer to is listed as S02E02.

However it appears a number of those episodes is also listed as actual movies in The Movie Database – however, the latest one (Maigret in Montmartre) isn’t one of them.

From what I’ve seen, you’ll get the best quality if you treat them as a TV show.

currently there are 4-5 Rowan Atkinson’s Maigret series. If I put them in tv shows, they won’t show a match at all. So all this time I listed them as TV movies, 3 of them showed perfectly fine. The latest tv movie which was aired just few days ago won’t show. and now, any new Maigret I added from today won’t match.

additionally, there are lots of error:

2017-12-31 03:58:26,819 (5b8) : ERROR (model:205) - Cannot read model from C:\PATH\Plex Media Server\Metadata\Movies\c\caab4fe0b6c244f00b3b1adf6caee5b721f5273.bundle\Contents\com.plexapp.agents.imdb

and similar one from almost all metadata agents starting from today’s log.

there are also errors similar to below

2017-12-31 04:07:43,947 (2e00) : ERROR (networking:219) - Error opening URL ‘http://127.0.0.1:32400/services/tmdb?uri=%2Fmovie%2Ftt6326286%3Fappend_to_response%3Dreleases%2Ccredits%26language%3Den

I think there is problem with Plex Movie agent end points and the movie database.

I have copy of the same title of Maigret TV movie, after matched for few seconds it shows metadata, poster etc and then few seconds later it shows blank

The one I added today that can’t match

The one I added few months ago

Even though both have the same file name, title, resolution the one I added today won’t match, **along with many movies that I added today **that won’t match.

It is natural that there is an error, because the Plex Movie agent is requesting metadata from TMDB about a movie that doesn’t exist on TMDB.

The one I added few months ago

Please post the Plex XML info of this movie.

Attached are 3 Maigret TV movies I added in the past few months and last year.
It was fine.

When I tried to add the same 3 TV movies with much higher bit-rate, all with the same name and into the same “Movie” Library, all 3 of them won’t match using Plex Movie agent and The Movie Database agent.
IMDB and TMDB has them in the website.

OK so I did the plex dance, and moved Rowan Atkinson’s Maigret to TV Shows, now it show the metadata and poster except the latest S02E02 despite having TVDB entry.

The ones I added to Movies few months ago are still in movies with complete metadata and poster.

The other movies I added today which some of them are Japanese, Taiwanese and old US movies from 1960 era still won’t match to anything despite all of them has IMDB page. Doing Plex Dance and changing agent into TMDB doesn’t change anything.

I believe there is problem with API for TMDB and IMDB that Plex use.
I can’t match any movie using Plex Movie agent now, Even after clearing Plugins cache folder.

After some test, the movies that can’t be matched using Plex Movie agent and TMDB agent despite having entry on IMDB and TMDB website, the same movies can be matched using DAUM movie agent. DAUM movie agent has the same entry as in IMDB/TMDB website but in Korean language.

Obviously this is not ideal as I want them all in English especially for English movies.

The file A:\PATH\Maigret Night at the Crossroads (2017).mp4
was matched with TMDB.
The other two were matched with Plex Movie.

I don’t know this DAUM agent. Did you install or update it recently?
Perhaps it is interfering with the other agents?

What annoys me is that movies that was matched with Plex Movie before can’t be matched again despite having the same name, title etc.

I installed it around 2 years ago, never have problem interfering with other agents. Never have any update I believe.

Daum is for Korean language metadata, copying most entries from TMDB and IMDB but in Korean interface.

Also another thing I noticed is that from yesterday, PLEX doesn’t do deep analysis on any of remote mounted drive such as Google Drive, NAS etc.

Plex only do deep analysis on my local media, really annoying.

I have done all sort of test even manually invoke deep analysis from command line, and there was nothing, only shows SLOW QUERIES.

So the Plex Movie agent finally start behaving normal again from today, matching all movies that couldn’t be matched yesterday.

On slightly related note, “Clean Bundles” is the most dangerous operation in Plex Web. I believe Clean Bundles deleted some of the bundles that is being used by TV/Movie metadata.
Almost every time after doing Clean Bundles, I get the same TV Show Season deleted, as in, the record is still there but missing random things like missing Poster, or Background or subtitle were shown as none, or missing Episode description.

When this happen the only remedy is to do Plex Dance.

I suggest to use Clean Bundles feature very carefully.
