Bad Titles for good matches

I’m seeing a number of things like Movies when they come through having titles that look like they’re coming from someone’s personal media collection rather than the official title of the movie (from the metadata that I’ve selected). An example of this is Outside Providence (1999). In my library, it’s structured correctly in the Outside Providence (1999) folder with the name “Outside Providence (1999).mp4”, when I select the movie “Outside Providence - 1999” from the “fix match” I get the title “Outside.Providence.1999.1080p.WebRip.H264.AC3.DD5.1.Will1869” in the library with a different poster meaning the only way for me to “fix” this is to manually select the poster and title. Is there an easier way to accomplish this? Am I doing something wrong on my side?

Your first screen shot shows that your file is not named as you say it is.

Put the “WEBRip-1080” inside of brackets “ [ ] “.

Like so “13 Hours The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016) [1080p]”.

I’ve tried with and without that present, still get the same bad matches

You most likely have Prefer local metadata enabled on your library and that title is coming from the embedded metadata of the media file itself.

sure enough, strange that it’s doing both name and a poster, but maybe I’m not sure where it’s getting the poster metadata from

I’d guess there is also an embedded poster :joy:

didn’t see one with mediainfo but I might not be reading that metadata corretly either

Mediainfo won’t show attachments. Typically I use MKVToolNix if I want to check for attachments.
