I need some help with tips and tricks to solve this.
I am trying to add Battlestar Galactica the original series AND the new 2003 versions as seperate series. But this is no longer possible for some reason. Most of the 2003 seasons end up in the original series. Except season two who creates a totally different series called ‘Игри на волята: България’. Yeah, I have no clue what that is…
I have tried to make the tags for the series as different as possible (Battlestar Galactica original series and Battlestar Galactica new series 2003) but it doesn’t help. It works seperatly, But as soon as I add the other, they merge into a mess. I even changed the folders to Battlestar Galactica original series [1978] and Battlestar Galactica (2003) [2003].
It works fine for V [1983] and V [2009] though.
Any tips, hints or suggestions will be highly appreciated.
I’m assuming you have the different TV series in different folders. If that’s the case then make sure you are following the Plex naming conventions for TV series.
If you are following the naming conventions I’d embed the metadata in the files…hopefully they are MP4. If not MP4 it may be worth converting to MP4.
If all this is done and it still has trouble with the naming I’d pull the files from your folder. Empty the trash for the library, and then clean the bundles. This will remove any leftover potential items from the TV series. Then add one series and make sure it matches. Then add your second series. If it ends up being a mess you will have to go to the show and “fix the match”, if that doesn’t work you’ll have to go to the folder view and fix each season to try and sort it out.
Additional thought…make sure you name each episode. I looked through the two series and they all have different names for the episodes. Make sure you use the part 1, 2, etc correctly. For example.
Battlestar Galactica - S01E01 - pt1 - Saga of a Star World
May want to consider include the year of the series in the name…“Battlestar Galactica 1979 - S01E01 - pt1 - Saga of a Star World”.
