Reference for the ppl that have slow performance
scan and metadata download done in roughly an hour for 132 shows, 2868 episodes
intro detection running for 48 hours, reached T (it runs in alphabetical order as far as I can see)
Intro detection runs on one core, so I’ll just let it run.
It is the season posters. I have been used to having season poster from multiple sources. I would like to make that a feature request, that artwork will still be collected from multiple sources.
Disabling theme music on the client is not the same thing as disabling the downloading of theme music.
I want theme music, but I definitely do not want Plex’s super-loud themes, nor do I want them downloaded for every series automatically. We could disable that option in the old agents, and still use our own themes. We should have that option here too.
I hope that it’s not in the works to automatically download themes for movies as well. It makes that feature basically useless to me if the only control is at the app.
One interesting thing, probably a manifestation of the Episode sort order choice in the agent (IMDB vs TVDB). But you also run into issues because IMDB and TVDB don’t always agree with each other as to what stuff is called or even if it is a tv series or a suite of mini series.
TV series that goes by two names depending on the online source
C.S. Strike imdb tt4276618
Strike TVDB 319742
TVDB has four seasons with episodes (3,2,2,4)
IMDB has three seasons with episodes (5,2,4)
My files were set up for TVDB and my four seasons were stuffed into three with season four lumped on top of season 1. So far I haven’t been able to get it to use the TVDB sort order. I changed the prefs in the agent and unmatched and matched to tvdb-319742 and it still pulls up the imdb three season arrangement. I recarnned the library (which was wicked fast now that it has done it once) but so far it is still unchanged. We shall see if it catches up once all the metadata is done.
in another case, there are two BBC versions of the Agatha Christie Miss Marple mysteries.
Miss Marple TVDB #250440
In IMDB, this series is listed as a series of mini-series, not one single series. tt0088833, tt0087749, tt0090669 etc,
Agatha Christie’s Marple TVDB #78895
this show is named Marple in IMDB tt1734537 (with a Agatha Christie’s Marple (original title))
These are two different series with two different actresses playing Marple.
Since I had them under their TVDB names, the scanner set to IMDB lumped them all together as one series under TVDB #78895
If I try to fix the match to TVDB-250440, I get tt0087749 and when I pick that it actually does pull tvdb-250440 and give me the proper series.
The matching of shows can be done using imdb, tmdb or tvdb but there is no Episode ordering for IMDB, its either TMDB or TVDB so I’d say the issue might be related to how the files are named on disk. Could you let us know exactly how the files are named on disk please ?
Just attach a text file or screenshot of the files within your directory structure for that show.
EDIT: As a quick test I added the series and it came in okay with all the naming correct. I tested with TMDB & TVDV ordering and both worked.
Strike (which is the original title) is correct on TVDB, this is how The BBC have it, 1 season per story
Miss Marple, Is an old BBC show, so woudnt like to be 100% say how it should be named, but i wouldnt expect the episodes to be split into mini-series, one single series is more likely to be correct
Agatha Christies Marple (this is the correct title), is an ITV show, it is just one series, the actress playing Marple changed part way through, first few seasons are one, last few are another
Agatha Christies Poirot is another one that has slight issues
I coudnt find any way to get Plex to look at the correct tvdb data for these
Great you got it sorted. I’m open to correction on this and maybe someone from the plex team can confirm but I think the Plex Dance is defunct now and not needed anymore. A unmatch and rematch should be all that is needed nowadays.
I use TMDB order but TMDB doesn’t have any episode images and the images don’t exactly match TVDB or IMDB so… not sure where they are sourced and not sure why some in the poster area and others don’t.
Rematching will refresh it but still comes back with the same situation.
Also, a lot of shows have shorter names, e.g. Poirot from Agatha Christie's Poirot or some of Marvel’s shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or Agent Carter. Is that a bug?
Three different Flash Gordon series:
Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe
Flash Gordon’s Trip to Mars
Flash Gordon: Space Soldiers
The first two get grouped under Flash Gordon
Space Sodiers is also called Flash Gordon with artwork for Flash Gordon Serials.
Poldark (the 1975 original) gets grouped in with Poldark (2015)
Poldark
Poldark (2015)
Season 2 of Outer Limits (the original version) was added to season two of Outer Limits (1995). These are just called
The Outer Limits
The Outer Limits (1995)
Twilight Zone and Twilight Zone (2019) were kept separate, but both named Twilight Zone. The artwork is right but adding the (2019) would be nice to tell them apart.
The Twilight Zone
The Twilight Zone (2019)
