@drzoidberg33 @adriana is there an update on when action / adventure will be separated again ? The specific thread seems to have been closed so said I would ask here.
Tonight we watched A Night to Remember (1958) — The Movie Database (TMDB) which is a superb movie adaptation of the titanic’s first and only sailing.
However, the plex decision to merge action and adventure here is probably the best example of why this should never have been done. This movie is most certainly not an adventure movie.
In addition, the related movies to them way off when compared to this one.
I adjust my genre tags to actually make them “action\adventure” because I prefer that to separate action and adventure options (I recently changed them from “action & adventure” in fact). I just edit the tags myself. Is it Plex doing it or the sources?
It’s plex, they decided a while ago to combine them and then later said they’d split them but no eta on when. If you check the movie above on TMDB as an example it has action set but not adventure.
I‘ve got a problem, that every new episode that I add gets a false match to the same wrong show.
Plex always match to that show:
But as you can see I‘ve added a new episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier:
1st attempt to fix this might be to attempt renaming your episodes to something closer to the official naming schema (or ideally using that schema). Also… Plex doesn’t like localized folder-names (e.g. “Staffel” vs. “Season”)
e.g.
Serien <- the folder linked by your plex TV Show library
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Season 01 <- NOT "Staffel 1"
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier - s01e05 - Wahrheit.mkv
Thanks for the fast reply.
My naming scheme worked absolut perfectly for years.
And it worked great till the last week.
I‘ve switched to the new Scanner immediately after the release in march.
This doesn’t really make any sense to me, everything looks right.
Could you just Plex Dance that show’s folder (move it out of the path Plex scans, scan the library, then move the show folder back and scan again).
Could you tell which show this is?
Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai Ya Arahende!!
It’s the same one as i’ve mentioned earlier, i’m just trying to dig deeper as to what causes it.
An episode named Gaki no Tsukai - S1996E321 [#321] [1996-05-12] - Matsumoto vs. Hamada 100.mp4 will always end up at S01E100, seemingly no way of fixing it.
This one was flagged earlier and should be fixed in an upcoming release.
WHAT IS THAT? link?
It’s kind of colloquial. As he said, move the show out of the library Plex points to, scan the library (without that show), then put the show back into the library and scan again. That’s what they call the ‘Plex Dance!’
Here’s the official process: The Plex Dance ™
Plex has a mechanism to avoid re-cataloging files you had already added if you e.g. simply fix the file name. This is working against you if you try fixing the naming of your files in order to get them to match.
The procedure to overcome this “obstacle” is called Plex Dance.
Drzoidberg included a brief summary in his post. The full procedure goes like this:
⋮ > Scan Library Files for the applicable library⋮ > Manage Library > Empty Trash for the applicable librarySettings > [Server Name] > Manage > Troubleshooting and click Clean Bundles ← this step is not absolutely necessaryYeah, I combine mine but I’d prefer Plex leave the genre tagging alone.
My habit of combining those tags comes from my own video store history but Plex isn’t a physical video store and a digital library item can have one or both tags which is the whole point of flexible tagging.
Plus, don’t mess with the source tags please. What’s the point of tagging differently than all three primary sources for this particular set of tags?
Y’know what? Now I want to separate them for myself. This conversation made it clear I’m limiting my own use by combining these just because of a habit.
Plex, please don’t combine or merge tags from sources. If I can learn to live with it outside of Blockbuster others can too.
Why not add a “REBUILD” button to do this automatically for us dummies whom paid for a program that is supposed to work.
I have noticed that TV shows are no longer being set to “watched” status on Trakt, since I updated to the new beta Agent. Movies still update to watched, but not TV shows.
Is this coincidence, or is there some other reason?
Any suggestions on getting the connection to Trakt fixed? I have already tried re-authorising the Trakt plugin.
The new agent is not using the old Python-based agent/plugin system anymore.
Therefore it cannot be extended by the old trakt.tv plugin.
The official way to link plex to trakt is to use the trakt.tv webhook instructions.
