Beta update 1.23.6.4810 Breaks Plexamp for Remote User

After updating to Beta 1.23.6.4810, one of my shared remote users experienced problems with plexamp. It would only play certain files and skip over most. When I looked at his Plexamp logs, it looks like some network error.

I am not having any issues with my own plexamp when using it remotely. When I rolled back my server to Beta version 1.23.5.4841, everything worked for him again. So, all is well for now. The update seems to have broken something that deals with plexamp. I have included his Plexamp logs as well as my server logs. Let me know if I can provide any other info, so that this problem can be addressed in the soonest update. Thanks.

I had a friend comment with similar issues, but they’re using the Prologue app
My guess it has to do with this new feature in 1.23.6.x

if I enabled download, Prologue would work.

yep, that’s it -
I just installed PlexAmp and logged in as a shared user

with download not enabled for the shared user, nothing would stream.

with download enabled, it streams fine

So, is the takeaway here that If I enable downloads for his account share, then his Plexamp will work with the new update?

yes, but I’d hope one wouldn’t have to enable download for the user, for your entire server, just to let plexamp work.

Streaming from the regular plex mobile app works fine without enabling download

Plexamp works fine on my server for remote users with downloads disabled using PMS 1.23.6.4810.

Wonder what the difference is (on 1.23.6.4810 as well) ?

I can toggle the enable download off for the user from the server, and then click play and nothing will play.

Toggle it back on, and then click play, and it works fine

I agree, having to enable downloads is not an acceptable solution. I guess I won’t be able to update my server until they fix this. I would love to hear from someone on the plex team, to at least advise me on the best way to proceed. I do not want to enable downloads.

Hopefully someone from Plex stumbles across this thread before this beta hits the public release
