Better Guide Linking, Use Multiple Guides

Hello,

Lifetime member here. I am really impressed with Plex. It’s a great product that has a few quirks (like any product does), but once you iron them out it is quite commendable and impressive.

This is especially so when comparing to nearly two decades of DirecTV experience where they seemed to have checked out for good.

Anyways, everything works great in the Live TV experience. The only area I would like to see improvement is the Guide that is linked to the scanned and located channels. This seems to be an “all or nothing” type deal, where if a channel is not located, it cannot be used.

It would be ideal to be able to load another guide from another local guide and “cherry pick” the missing channels from that. Hope that makes sense.

In any case, thank you for the great work here. It’s a great product and effort for sure. Well worth the lifetime pass, and a great value at that.

Speaking of quirks. In my case, I had two channels that were not located: 17.4 Charge and CourtTV. 17.4 Charge was located in Grand Rapids OTA Guide, but not Battle Creek.

However, doing another search with the same Battle Creek Zip code to load the Battle Creek Guide appears to have loaded 17.4 Charge as desired. :man_shrugging:

However however, it would still be nice to load a guide from some other location and cherry pick CourtTV so I have a full channel count. :+1:

NEVERMIND on the above. Turns out the reason why 17.4 Charge mysteriously loaded is that when I re-entered Battle Creek’s zip code, it was actually Marshall’s zip code, which loaded both Grand Rapid’s and Battle Creek’s guides, with Grand Rapid’s selected, which led to the channel being loaded.

Sometimes users are quirky, too.

I know I am being chatty here, but this basically proves what I have been saying about Plex. You might find something quirky about it, but eventually you find you can get exactly what you’re looking for. I was able to setup an XMLTV Guide XML file and now have all channels in my area – even Court TV!
