Server Version#: 1.22.1.4228
Player Version#: n/a
Tuner Make/Model: BlackGold BGT-3620
Guide/Lineup name: UK Freeview OTA
Using XMLTV?: no
Channel number/Name: all
this tuner used to work for me (and others: Community Supported Tuners | Plex Support) but now doesn’t.
the issue is that the card has multiple tuners of different types. it manages to use the correct tuners to scan for channels but then uses the wrong tuners for playback. there should be an option to manually force with tuners should be used.
is there a config file or db/reg entry somewhere i can modify to force the tuner selection?
right, i’ve managed to get this tuner working.
procedure:
- shut down plex server
- open AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.plexapp.plugins.library.db in sqllitebrowser
- open media_provider_resources table
- select the record with identifier “tv.plex.grabbers.tunerservice”
- edit the field “extra_data”
- the field is url encoded so it’s not that easy to read but what you’re looking for is “&at%3Atuners=6”, change that to “&at%3Atuners=2”. then, right at the end of the string, the six tuners are listed. remove the last 4 as these are all DVB-C. the tuners start with “&tk%3A”, followed by a number from 0-5. Delete 2-5.
*Save the changes, start the server and it should all work.
I’ve noticed in the logs that Plex is still defining the DVB-C tuner as preferred BUT it follows what’s been set in the db regardless and successfully streams both SD and HD content to my Chromecast w/Google TV.

apologies for the mass @'in but it would be nice if someone could acknowledge this issue and say if it’ll get fixed or not? as you can see, I fixed the issue myself but the ability to select which tuners are used in the server should be user selectable.
the error i originally got turned out to be fairly generic (Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna), with multiple other people having the same issues but with different causes. one of the team members was assisting me but as soon as it became apparent that it was a plex issue, not a me issue, that assistance dried up. There’s a post from 2016 (Plex and Technicial Support!!) in which employees outline how forum support will get better but in my case at least, nothing seems to have changed. at the very least, people with a plex pass should have some form of contacting the people who make the software for support. i completely get the free software = community support angle but those who purchase a service should have a direct-ish line to support, rather than a public forum where real issues can get lost in seconds.
