Brief stopping during playback

Hi,
I’m having a strange issue I think.

I run plex on my PC. I have the server and the player as I use my TV as the monitor.

I am trying to play a movie which is onan external drive attached to the PC.

If playing through VLC it works fine. But when I play it through the Plex Media player it does this weird stuttering… it will play for 20 seconds, then stutter, like a really brief pause, then continue for 20 seconds then stutter again.

Whats going on??

Any help greatly appreciated.
