Please bring back Touch and Big Screen in the Windows player.
I know statistics show low usage of Touch on Windows devices, but I am convinced those numbers are skewed: Many Windows Touch devices (Surfaces, tablets, laptops) are used to sync and play offline (in planes, trains, hotel rooms) with internet connection (most don’t even have a SIM card). So those hours probably don’t show up in your numbers.
You are now killing a unique feature that brought many people to Plex in stead of Emby, Kodi and others, please bring it back, or restore it in (for example) the Windows Store app.
Removing it from the Windows Store was the absolute worst decision to make. Like, why would you even consider doing that? What possesed your team to make that decision?
Their reason is probably the usual one: Too little usage / we can’t support everything. Fine if the numbers are actually correct, but I doubt it. And if so, by by Plex. For me touch / Windows Tablet offline use was the differentiation why I picked Plex over the other options. If Plex thinks my scenario is irrelevant to them, doesn’t mean I can change my needs.
I originally started using Plex when I found they had an app for Windows 8 so I could use it on my Surface RT. Have stuck with Plex until they stopped updating the UWP app. Emby works well on my surface but i’m willing to try the new Plex app once they fix the display scaling and make it better for touch devices.
Guys,
when you discontinue an app please make sure that your new app has at least the same features.
The Windows Plex app was the only possibility for touch devices like my Yoga laptop. It can’t be that hard to implement touch feature to your new Plex for Windows.
At least make the volume switch a little bit bigger.
