Buffering issue - network not fast enough

Any good news to this issue? It is so frustrating that I went ahead and bought a Plex Pass and I experience this stupid problem with all my Android devices (Samsung mobile phones and NVIDIA Shield TV!!!)

No progress in the year that this (and other) threads have been active?

There are several posts about this. I think they are making progress but its really annoying that this bug is occurring.

My issues were resolved when I rolled back the Plex Server to v1.13 from 1.14. If you haven’t tried that already, that’d be my advice. You don’t lose any content doing so.

That is along jump from 1.15.0.659

edit: I tried going back to 1.13.9.5456-ecd600442 and same issue

Still no fix?

We have made various improvements that have fixed the problem for some users, but not others it seems. So we can narrow down the issue your experiencing a bit further, can you confirm:

  • If you have passthrough enabled, if so, do the issues still happen if you disable passthrough?
  • If you have refresh rate switching enabled, do the issues still happen if you disable refresh rate switching?
  • Do you have the home streaming quality set to Maximum? If not does the issue happen when you have it set to maximum?
  • Do you have the remote streaming quality set to Maximum? If not does the issue happen when you have it set to maximum?
  • Do you have Adjust Automatically enabled? If so, does the issue happen with it disabled?

If I disable passtrough it no longer tries to transcode and continuously adjust quality, but actually direct plays the file, which solves the problem for me.

@sixones This has suddenly started for me with PMS 1.16.3. I had hardly ever seen the problem before and now it is with everything I try to watch.

My network is absolutely fine:

The last file to buffer was:

@JCHH What Android device are you using to play the videos?

Happens on my FireTV 4K too. Backing out of Plex and then starting the video again fixes the issue till the next time it happens.

Can you link to whatever you are claiming you explained please?

This forum doesnt have replies numbered… Cant just scroll to ā€œ192ā€ Thanks

Any update on this fix @sixones ?

Posts are numbered (look at the scroller on the RHS) so, whilst you can scroll to them, that thread only has 156 posts…

[edit: added ā€œwhilstā€]

Thanks @JCHH-- I see the post counter now lol.

Then I don’t know what the heck @aegrimisu was talking about when he said he wrote a big post on post 192, as the thread only has 156 like you said…

Back to square 1 !

me neither.

Here is my post about what fixed my issue. This may help you. Merry Christmas

where can you /how do you set the Maximum H.264 Level global setting?
