There are topics related to this going back to 2018, none are resolved.
…
I am assuming it won’t be resolved. But here is what I see. The IMDB ratings are in the Critic Rating Column. Hundreds of Hit movies have no rating at all. Some movies have TMDB ratings in the Critic Rating column. Then after all of the empty, IMDB, TMDB ratings the Rotten Tomato ratings appear and they are in proper order.
Now I am more interested in why half my library shows IMDB or TMDB ratings when I have currently and have had for the last three years Rotten Tomatoes selected as Ratings Source and have rebuilt the library many times?
Maybe I need some help going over the settings for my library, but I notice in Legacy I can’t deselect many of the options in Agents.
Again, in Manage Libraries selecting Refresh all Metadata in the past did not remove the IMDB, TMDB, and Blank ratings and replace them with Rotten Tomatoes ratings.
You’re selecting a primary ratings source, not an exclusive one. There are some titles for which Plex doesn’t have Rotten Tomatoes ratings; in my own library I have several (Ice Age, for example). In that case it falls back to one of the other available sources.
You can check some of your movies which are missing RT ratings against https://watch.plex.tv to see which ratings sources they have available. If there’s a discrepancy, you might try the Plex Dance for the item(s) in question. Or an individual metadata refresh.
The fact is that the label for the setting is not “Primary Ratings Source” it’s “Ratings Source”. Labeling has a large impact on how people perceive their choices and interact with the database.
There is no option for a Secondary source or Tertiary Source or None. If there were I would choose “None” in this case because Plex has chosen to put user ratings in the Critics Ratings column and then not sort them properly. That is the excuse that has been proffered in any case.
There needs to be some convergence on this and action taken to remedy the issue. Today I would like to remove lower rated movies to make room on my HDD and this is the obstacle to achieving that goal.
I will try your advice on the movies with no ratings, thanks!
