[Bug] Plex starts with a black screen

Since latest Plex release on my LG WebOS v3 Plex always starts with a black screen. I need to go back to the WebOS homescreen (Home/Recent button on Magic Remote) and need to force close Plex with the red cross on the WebOS homescreen. After that a second start of Plex works as expected.

This happens when closing Plex after previous run with “Are you sure to close…” and it happens when simply powering off the TV while Plex is running (without playing content).

So it’s always the same since the latest WebOS release. Every first start of Plex ends in a black screen. Every second start of Plex, after force closing Plexs first start, works.

Yes same here, happens all the time and its consistent, been like this for a couple of months now :unamused:

Problem seems to disappear if I disable auto sign-in
Edit: spoke to soon, still a problem

Only happens after coming back to Plex once opened from a different source. Opening the first time after power cycling the TV, it works fine. Something not right. Used to work fine.

Have you all seen this Important information about Plex for smart TVs after September 30, 2021

Sure have. :slight_smile: Mine is a newer LG OLED, but set to preferred secure connections, just in case it was the cause of any issues. Works fine on first start.

Okay, just said I’d mention it incase. I assume you have tried clearing plex app cache/data etc… to see if it helps.

Thanks @anon5074910. I’m just going through the diagnostics logs now, hoping to find something useful.

This Bug has nothing to do with certificate changes. It simply reports that Plex on LG WebOS 3+ starts with a blank screen. It works if you kill the Plex App completly and start it after killng it completely.
