[BUG REPORT] Subtitles fail during last few minutes of movie

By enabling “Direct Stream” and disabling “Direct Play”, I have been able to use the Plex player on my Samsung TV.

But after the latest & greatest player version, the subtitles stop to appear when is around 1 or 2 minutes to finish the video. Then if I go back some seconds, the subtitle is showed again until the end.

Well… when this will be finally fixed?

I don’t think it’s only a Samsung Tizen related problem because I noticed the same thing on my Sony Bravia Android tv.
I also have an oled C7 LG WebOS based TV with Plex installed but didn’t watch a movie on it recently. But I will test it for sure one of these days.

Problem with disappearing subtitles (mostly to the end of the movie) also occur on the WebOS version and the Xbox one Plex app. Sometimes you have to stop the movie several times because the subs keep disappearing. So it still isn’t fixed at the moment.
I stream the movies from the Plex host on my Netgear xr700 router if that can help to solve the problem

Same thing on my side on LG webOS TV and the issue is also on Chromecast v2. Multiple threads are mentioning this issue for months (search for “subtitles stop” for instance) and I found none with an answer from Plex. So frustrating!

Frustrating. That’s the word.

That’s why I started the thread The Sad State of Plex Player on Samsung Tizten smart TVs, but it seems that the problems are affecting a bunch of other players.

I really don’t understand why Plex staff doesn’t care at all about these issues.

Surprisingly, the best Plex player until now is still RasPlex, which was last updated more than 3 years (you read right) ago…
