[BUG - Reproducible] Android PLEX app constantly losing pinned settings when server not running, driving me potty!

Hi All,
Recently (past couple of weeks) I’ve noticed on both my Android phone and Nvidia Shield TV that plex is forgetting my configuration settings for what items I have pinned on my plex server, Movies, TV Shows, CCTV Camera Front, Back etc.

The root cause of the issue is starting the plex app before my plex server is up and running. I only put my plex server on when I want to watch something.

When the server isn’t on the plex app shows me this default screen/menu:

Problem is when the server is then switched on it shows me the exact same screens, it’s forgotten everything I pinned previously from my plex server and it is driving me nuts.

I’ve reproduced the error on Android Mobile App and Android TV App which are the same version.

  1. Switch plex server on
  2. Start plex android app on client device, pin items.
  3. Kill plex app on client device and reopen, pinned items retained
  4. Reboot client device, start plex app, plex items will be retained
  5. Shutdown client device
  6. Shutdown plex server
  7. Start client device, start plex app, default screens will appear as it can’t find the server, so pinned items removed.
  8. Switch plex server on
  9. Reopen plex app either after being killed or device reboot and the default plex screen returns, all pinned items have been forgotten, have to click through and setup again.

What a nightmare, it never used to work this way, something has changed very recently.

The plex web app doesn’t suffer the same annoyance.

Not sure if the apple plex app is also impacted, perhaps someone can’t test this for me.

Plex app will forget pinned sources if you put phone in airplane mode and then start Plex app.

I can’t believe no one has commented on this issue, either to say it happens to them or they can’t replicate it. This issue is driving me nuts every single day and it feels like no one seems to be listening :sweat:

This is already acknowledged and a fix is on the way… Lots of similar fhreads closed on the forum. @anon18523487

Thanks, is there a single page which lists all the outstanding bugs to make it easier to see if issue has been previously raised and current progress?

I can’t believe that you didn’t search for similar thread with exactly the same problem :slight_smile:

I searched for pinned settings in Plex player mobile and zero matches. If I search in just Plex player I get 1 match, raised 5 days before mine, so will have to search in everything in future. As I say better for Plex to have a defined bug list.

Still surprised it’s taken this long to get a reply.
