[BUG] Showing multiple entries for one movie

My Plex keeps showing 2 - 3 slots for one movie.

It’s NOT collections, as I have the feature turned off COMPLETELY in the advanced settings for each library (Not just hiding movies). You can also see here :

the movies have no metadata for collections, suggesting it doesn’t even know it “belongs in a collection” (this is what they’re like. multiple entries with no data)

I’ve seen multiple articles suggesting it’s collections, but it doesn’t seem to be…

Any help is much appreciated

Would you mind sharing some more details?
i.e.

  • what type of library is this (e.g. movie vs. other video)?
  • how are the files named and what’s their folder structure?
  • what folder(s) have you linked to that library?

The screenshot does’t show much beyond there’s no tags derived from your files or any downloaded metadata (the screenshots don’t even tell for sure if the movie is being matched or not – they merely imply that your video file is named 13 Captain America Civil War

I’m more than happy too!

The library I’m showing is my movies, however, it’s happening to random episodes of my tv shows as well.

The files and folders are all correctly named. Here’s a screenshot of the Captain America file, and I can confirm that all the other movies are titled like this (No extra numbers, symbols, etc.)

I’m not sure where it’s getting the “13” from. The year, studio, etc. is also in the properties of all my media files.

I only have one folder for all movies, and a separate folder for tv shows.
Within my movies folder, movies are sorted into folders for collections.
Within my tv shows folder, shows are sorted into folders for each show, and season.

I would like to note that it isn’t all movies. Most of them loaded perfectly fine (including other marvel movies from the same folder). It’s only about 100, or so, of movies that are being weird.

see my reply to tom80H, as Plex is the one making the file name weird, such as adding the “13”. My files are named normally.

I’ll try this, and update with what happens!

I figured out what was wrong. Optimized versions of the movie (or show) were showing up as separate entities. I simply deleted the “Optimized For …” folder, then refreshed my metadata, and everything is working just fine!
