Number of entries differ depending on how they are sorted

Server Version#: 4.66.1
Player Version#: 1.39.1.2763-300bb607

Hello,

I am new to Plex and I already believe that it is just what I was looking for. However, there are a few things that I do not quite understand and for which I have not yet found a solution:

After having set up my film library I noticed that Plex correctly shows 1.197 entries (when shown by year or by date added). However, when I sort the films by title a total of 1.257 is shown (see enclosures). I know for a fact that 1.197 is correct, so where did the additional 60 entries come from? I saw that a number of films is shown twice and that the duplicate entry does not state the year but rather shows the term “1 movie” (see enclosure). Strangely enough, these are precisely the entries that also turn up under “Collections” although I had not set up any collections yet.

I would be very pleased if someone could explain to me how to repair this and how to avoid this kind of error in the future. I am probably doing something wrong, but do not have a clue what it might be.

Finally, how can I avoid that the programme decides itself what films are considered “recommended”? I’d rather do that myself…

Many thanks for any help you can give me.

That’s basically because Plex isn’t showing the number of movies but the number of items. If you sort your library by title it’ll also include collections (in your case the library appears to be configured to show both the collections and their items (hence the difference).

The items showing “1 movie” are Collections, possibly auto-generated by Plex. If you edit the library and go to the Advanced tab, you’ll see a couple of relevant settings:
