i have database files in my database folder from this week, how do i restore them and revert to 1.32.7516 so i can see actor credits? If you aren’t going to fix this (cause i got the latest beta to work so i can watch things but it only shows who’s in things on servers im connected to) TAKE ACTOR CREDIT LINKS TOTALLTY OUT
as a last resort im updating metadata on every library i have since its screwed anyway what do i have to lose. I;ll report tomorrow but i want a solution to go back to the previous version that worked for me to be found in the meantime because like everything, this wont work, nothing gets fixed, new things get added and bugs dont get fixed.
Oh no! That’s not good. To use a previous DB backup all you need to do is stop Plex then rename the most recent backup to the default naming. Before doing this you’ll want to rename your existing DB file to something else. Instructions are here.
Can you share your Server.log from when it fails to launch? You mentioned the DB is corrupt, did you attempt to repair it? https://support.plex.tv/articles/repair-a-corrupted-database/

i hope this 5 day old system restore that says it’ll restore the old version puts the old database back and works and lets it repopulate the last 5 days of stuff i got

You should be able to install the previous working version for you (1.32.8?) then stop PMS and reuse the recent DB backup to get back to where you were. Any items added between the backup and now will be lost but should be scanned and added once everything is back up.
I would recommend keeping the “corrupted” but working on 1.40.3 DB just in case. Also please share logs where the failure to start exists and attempt to repair, then try to downgrade using your active but “corrupted” DB.
can you tell me where to get the server log from cause when it runs it closes 2 seconds later from the systray with the downgraded version so i dont know how to get you logs.
when i rename the database files, that were for 7516, i get a “database corrupt” so if this system restore doesnt work i guess im screwed. i dont know, its finished now and rebooting so either i got f’d doing this and have to make a whole new plex server with the old version or someone can try and help me restore whatever files i need to see if it works
dont ask me to try any new betas unless the dev team is 100% positive they have the problem fixed, everything worked fine until like ONE YEAR ago and i’m not the only person complaining about it. I’m just really PO’d now that what i have is destroyed and if i have to start over new thats literally weeks i have to go through and manually match things that your identifier wont pick up even though its named right.
give me the exact names and locations of the files i need to rename for 1.32.8.7516, as in my %localappdata% plexmediaserver database folder i have like multiple .db’s with dates from the last 9 days

ok, i got a 9 day old database back, its propagating the 9 days of crap i got
and the credits work. But this is ridiculous, no one can figure out what broke or changed in a year to destroy clicking a actor to see the credits? I mean thank god this version plays everything and does HW+ on my amd card cause otherwise it would be useless.
And i understand you’re the middleman and the devs dont care or wont do anything to fix this but come on, i paid for a lifetime pass and you’re screwing me and others here with fixing problems that multiple people are having
well my old version is back with all the 9 days of files (of course out of order from the scan) but they’re there.
I refuse to run another server update unless you guys can guarantee i can downgrade, provide a automated backup for downgrading or prove this issue is fixed

i mean you understand what im saying here right? I’m not the only one with this problem, and im sure a lot of others have it but aren’t on here to report it or be vocal about it.
The server version I’m currently using is 1.40.2.8395. I did some random testing, and basically every actor’s credit page is showing my server. I didn’t check if it showed the complete list, but basically it’s all showing my server.
However, there are differences in the number of resources displayed on different clients. Since I have many shared servers, many movies have resources from both my own server and my friends’ servers. Currently, the total number of resources displayed is different on different clients. Also, the loading speed of credit pages on iOS is very slow.

This could be that their servers are slower to respond whether due to latency of the connection or business of server. Definitely more concerned about your PMS showing up as this would be something you’d have more control over and see what’s happening in the background that may be causing the delays.
But I have a question about artists that no one has replied to me, hoping you could take a look.
I’m starting to think if i unlinked from that one server i share with that always shows up then my stuff would show up under the list (or is there a way to say which shows up first?)
but I cant try that cause I lost touch with the guy who runs it and we just stay shared
I’m pretty sure he runs a older version than even mine cause i get the streaming errors saying i have to many streams going with his server (and i dont stream anything, i download it from him when I want it so I can have a copy on my server and it takes FOREVER literally) so maybe it has something to do with HIS server linked to mine.,
I dont know, im out of ideas at this point and if you are are telling me its fixed, and im not seeing my server in acting credits just his and plex (and not even the OTHER server im shared with) then maybe it has something to do with his
I found that my actor credit page can display almost all of my libraries, except for two libraries that do not show up on the credit page. All other libraries can display correctly. Maybe you could try creating a new library, adding some movies, and then testing whether this library appears on the credit page.
I have two libraries that are used for testing purposes and only contain a small number of movies. The movies in these libraries do not show up on the credit page, but the movies in other libraries do. I have not yet found the reason for this.
I discovered today that while the actor credit page displays resources from most of my libraries, there are two libraries that do not appear on the actor credit page. These two libraries are used for testing purposes and also use Plex agents, but they do not show up on the credit page. It’s very strange since all the other libraries do.
I created a new library for testing. This new library also does not appear on the actor credit page, but the source for this new library is shown on the movie’s page in Discover. My other two problematic libraries do not show up on the movie page either.
Do those libraries have Include adult content enabled on them ? If so then that is the reason why.

plex tv series/plex series for tv agent/scanner
and all my libraries are set to include in home screen and global search, and adult content is off
