Plex keeps showing notifications at the top of Android TV’s home screen, for the last show that was played. It also shows two options; Open and Stop. This is very annoying, and likely a bug.
The part that makes this in fact a bug, is that if notifications for the Plex app are disabled in Android TV, it still does this. So it’s not honoring the Notifications settings within Android TV. See picture below:
I’m having the same issue.
My Shield remote basically becomes unusable when this pops up and I then need to use a different remote to clear the message.
I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one having these issues. It seemed to stop for a while, but just yesterday it started happening again. Might be related to Plex updates.
Hopefully more people reply, or I doubt this ever gets acknowledged or fixed.
I’m also experiencing this problem. A notification for a recently watched Plex video keeps appearing at the Shield TV home screen, as described by others. I can dismiss it, but it always comes back. I’ve disabled notifications in the Plex app, but that doesn’t do anything. This is rather frustrating.
It looks like more then one of are having this same issue, I hope they fix this soon every time I watch a video or a recording I get a notification at the top of my Shield open or stop even if I have deleted the recording I have notification turn off but to no avail it still shows up.
Same issue here with latest update installed. I can not believe it is now nearly a month since this bug was reported and it has not been fixed yet???
Same versions, same problem on 3 different Shields in the house…very annoying! Hopefully this gets some attention and a quick fix.
Same here; marking the show as “played” and then “un-played” and again “played” mutes the notification, But it is annoying and unnecessary.

I’m also getting this notification and it’s extremely annoying. I’m on the latest public app version. This issue started within the last few weeks for me.
Please fix this devs. This is irritating as hell. For someone with OCD it is even worse. 
This is still not fixed… Plex devs are the worst. They ignore issues for years, while adding new features no one asks for…
I’ve been wondering about this issue as well. The Shield displays the last episode of a show at the top as unfinished, even if it is. Very annoying. Don’t know if this is an Android TV issue or a Plex issue.
Plex issue with the new player.
I tried disabling the new player and the notification still appeared. Just seems to be an issue with the latest update to me.
Still no acknowledgement from Plex devs, though.

Same issue here, but i’m using Kodi. When watching something the Kodi app just sents me to Homescreen with the “Unknown Source” and then I have to show between open or stop.
Is it Plex (plex connect installt in kodi), Kodi or the Shield?
Ofc the Notifications are disabled but still “pops up”.
Yes, but if both Plex and Kodi have the same issue. Nots are in disable mode but still pushes these “strange” notes it’s seams that the main issue must be the shield itself.
Some strange update maybe, have been running the same setup for +1 years and now suddenly every let say 30 min i get a “note” Kodi = Unknown source, “open” or “stop”
I’ve been having the same issue on my 2017 Shield as well. It’s driving me insane. No matter how many times I click stop it just comes back. Rebooting the Shield or playing something else seems to be the only way to get it to go away.
I am flabbergasted that this has not been fixed yet??? 
I can confirm that it is not only a shield problem. Have the same issue on two different boxes as well.
