When I finish watching something on the Shield via Plex and return to the Shield home screen, a notification appears saying the content is still playing, giving me the option of continuing or stopping. This notification only appears if I let Plex play the content completely, and then return to that content’s pre-play screen. I can prevent the notification by ending the Plex play session before it gets to the end of the content (e.g., while a movie or show credits are being played). But if I let Plex play through to the end, I get the notification every time. This has been happening for several months worth of Plex Android builds, not just the latest one, but I finally decided to report it. It appears to happen only with Plex content, and not other Shield apps.
No word from the Plex folks since I first reported this, despite numerous reports from others seeing the same problem. Is there something I (we) can do to help diagnose the problem? Is there another, more appropriate forum to report this problem? Plex team – please chime in. Thanks.
Also seeing this issue. I have even disabled notifications for Plex app in the shield settings menu, but they still appear. Always shows up after playing a trailer too
Bumping to say also seeing the same if I use the “new player” option. Also not sure if related,. but with the new player, I also have it flag that I’ve watched the next episode of shows even if I haven’t (and autoplay is off).
Turning off the new player and using the old fixes both issues, but then it also crashes to desktop 50-75% of the time…
It’s amazing to me that this and other clearly identified bugs have gone unresolved for this long. Recent beta updates fix relatively obscure problems, but these don’t seem to get any attention.
Hi. I’m experiencing exactly the same problem (both on 2017 and 2019 Shield Pro).
At the same time also when I use Chrome browser on any device in my local network, Chrome shows the “Something is playing” icon amongst the Extensions and when you click on it it says “X is now playing on Shield Plex”.
I hope this will get a fix as this has been happening for a really long time.
I also just noticed this problem on my Nvidia Shield TV.
Like many others here, when I watch a video until the end and let it stop on its own with PLEX and return to the Nvidia Shield TV home screen, a notification pops up saying the video is playing .
I reported it almost a year ago. Not sure if others had reported it earlier, but it’s puzzling why it takes so long to fix things like this. It would be nice if they even acknowledged it as a problem. It’s 100% reproducible (for me, at least).
