KS8000 here too. Was working fine all day Thursday and Friday with the new interface but now on Saturday I too am getting the black screen with lines of code after applying the new 1.14.1.5488 server update. Great… just GREAT!

How does a novice like myself roll back to the previous version?

Yep, KS8000 here too, same situation. The updated plex player worked for one day, now, I get the same text output when starting, restarting (and powercycling) the tv doesn’t work either.

Same issues with my KS8000 too, black screen with lots of code.

It worked last night but kept getting audio drop off throughout movie, I thought it was the file as skipping back a few scenes the faults reoccurred at the exact same points. It was only after seeing similar reports here that I checked the file on pc and it played fine without any audio issues at all.

I have a Samsung UN55KS800D and I’m also experiencing the issue. The new UI worked for about 24 hours and now the black screen with unreadable code.

Here’s what I did to fix it for my Mac running High Sierra:

The only thing he doesn’t mention is that on newer MacOSX versions is that there’s a hidden Library folder. To access it, hold down the option key and click on the “Go” menu from the Finder and select “Library”. From there you’ll find the Plex Media Server folder in Application Support.

I uninstalled/reinstalled the Plex app from my TV and then turned off the TV. After that, I had to reset the media server settings and relink my account.

Make sure to turn off PMS’s Automatic Updates if it is enabled.

Subtitles is making direct play switch to transcoding. UE55KS8005.

I am having the black screen issue following latest update. Model is Samsung UA65KS8500W

Same here. Black screen with the white code.
Worked on Friday with the new GUI and then noticed it failing on Saturday.

Attempted to rollback to Plex Media Server 1.14.0.5470 (from version 1.14.0.5488 - I couldn’t find other version in between) but it did NOT resolve any issue.

Pretty new with Plex: not sure how I could try to rollback the Samsung Plex app itself.

Same problem here with a KS8000 Samsung TV.

I tried delete app from TV and install, and now it is working.

I’m also having exactly the same issue on my KS9000 Samsung tv. This happened before I updated the server but the version player on my Samsung tv had updated. Watched half a show. Turned it off and came back half hour later and got the following. Hasn’t worked since.

Just to make it clear, there are two problems here reported:

  1. random black screen with buffering
  2. black screen with white text - aparently you need to uninstall then clean install it again to fix this, but I’m not sure.

The main problem remain 1) wich @sLumpy promised will look it up.

I have PlexPass and since the new samsung plex player updated, my trailers before the movies won’t play until the end. video will buffer and then end abruptly at about the last ~30sec and jumps on the next trailer. No black screen problems, but the cover on the info from the movie screen jumps into the words also. Ue6400ku latest beta channel media server, pr2100…

Uninstall and install Plex App again does NOT resolve “black screen with white text”.

@sLumpy: can you confirm both issues are being looked at?

Same issue here … why did they release an untested version?

It’s strange… I have never had an issue with the Plex player… I have a KS8005 (nordic) TV… the only thing that is anoying is that its a slower UI… wish could get the 3.3.4 UI back…
