I can get over using a new interface. I’ll get used to it. Unfortunately if it doesn’t work, on a rerelease, all I can do is shake my head.
Ks8000. Black screen w codes. FWIW, I did not get the code error on the last release in 4q.

This is a repeat or very similar to the last time they pushed the update with the new UI. Lots of people got black screen with white text and they eventually reverted it back in the App Store to an older version. I was excited to see the new update thinking they finally fixed the issue. I was rather disappointed when i got the black screen white text this morning.
Uninstall and reinstall might fix it for a bit, but it’s very likely you’ll get the black screen white text again.
Samsung UE60KS7002U
Server is 1.14.1.5488 on i5 with 8GB RAM and SSD/NAS storage running on Fedora 29.
Same problem as other people have posted, black screen with white text
KS8000 with Plex version 3.84.2
Exact same issue as photo posted by mikelnovak & pawseyt
Today my Plex Player just locked up on my 7000 TV - it left me at the bottom of the TV listing screen with all keys inactive. No amount of restarts of the app or TV would move it. Eventually I had to completely remove the app and re-install it, which did the trick. I am not sure which version I was running but the TV generally updates the Plex app automatically.
Black screen with white code on UN65KS8000
Direct play is switching to transcoding for whatever reason, it happens randomly and it’s really annoying! (I believe the subtitles are getting burned when this happens, they became small and ocupy only the movie area, not the black bars)
And after switches to transcode, i can’t select direct play anymore in the options. KS7000
no roll back yet
Plex app. worked smooth for 2 days - yesterday I got black screen with tiny text.
UE55KS8005XXE - 2016 SUHD.
After a removal and reinstalling Plexapp it worked again.
Now running 3.84.2
Hi @sLumpy if Plex are considering this can you please share up the 3.84.2 version so I can side load it?
My KS8000 hasn’t missed a beat.
UE65KS8000 owner here. App v 3.84.2 / Server version 1.14.1.5488 (having just updated an hour ago from previous version in attempt to fix issues).
So far I haven’t had the black screen and code. Though I have had an instance within the last hour of a black screen and prolonged buffering when pressing play on a title. This was a film I had already watched 80% of without buffering. It did play eventually, but buffered again frequently, which it had not beforehand. No other activities were taking place on the server.
Aside from the above, I’ve also had the following issues persistently since the update:
Skipping forwards or backwards through a title causes playback to stop while the timer continues on as if playback is continuing. The image becomes static at the point where fast forward or rewind was pressed. The only solution seems to be to exit the content and then access it again.
When resuming playback after leaving a title, content is played for a few seconds, then it skips back about 5 or 6 seconds and plays from there onward.
The image frequently hangs while audio continues. This happens about once every 20 minutes or so. It lasts around 5-10seconds, after which image playback resumes from wherever the audio had reached.
I’ve been using Plex for around 5 years and it’s always been fantastic. It’s a shame to see this iteration of the app operating so poorly. Hopefully some smart Plex guys will fix it!
I’ve seen the same thing several times. Had to uninstall and reinstall the app each time.
Same issue with black screen and code on Samsung UE49KU6400
Samsung UE55KU6172
Randomly crashes in different ways. On some titles freezes, on others fatal crash of Plex app (app closes), others play without any issues.
Also noticed that for some titles subtitles, if they are not from .srt files are HUGE, like HUGE HUGE, when in settings subtitle size is set to Normal. Changed to tiny and they became just bigger than I would want them to be.
Also it updated with a bang, shortcut from the Smart Hub was not working, removed it and re-added to get it working - simply nothing happened when I clicked on the Plex app shortcut.
Plex server version 1.14.1.5488, Plex app version 3.84.2
P.S. No black screen issues for me.
On ks7000 same problem
Samsung TV here as well with black screen and text. I’ve been using Plex for a while without a problem, and now I can’t launch the app.
Black Screen with text. Nothing fixing it.
Before that constant black background with no thumbnails.
Slow UI, Difficult to navigate and completely unintuitive layout.
Worst update I’ve experienced for any app or program in a long long time. Rollback needs to happen or they are going to lose a lot of users.

Hi, i have a Samsung KS8000 and the below fix worked for me. Around the 8th Feb without any user intervention i started to get the black screen with tiny writing ‘error’.
Going back to version 3.84.0 on my TV resolved the above issue for me. it may be worth trying as it’s fairly easy and all you need is a USB stick.
I followed the guide in this link Samsung 3.84.1 Preview.
I installed the version WITHOUT the debug 3.84.0 preview build feature and it’s worked perfectly since.
