Cam (2018)

I added the movie Cam (2018). I am using some automation, so cannot alter the folder and file name.

Unfortunately., the movie is ignored by Plex. I assume it may be because of the name cam. It is not wrongly picked up, but completely ignored. Full name below. Any thoughts?

Y:\Cam (2018) [WEBDL-1080p]\Cam (2018) [WEBDL-1080p]

standards first…
have you checked permissions for the folder and file? (as in: does your local plex user have read permission for them?)

Thanks for your message. Yes, that’s not the issue. All other movies work, I reset the permission for this drive. I also removed and re-added the movie. The movie plays well with VLC, too.

My suspicion is that ā€œcamā€ is seen by Plex similar to ā€œblurayā€ or ā€œdvdā€? But no clue, Any other idea appreciated.

Try
Y:\Cam (2018) [WEBDL-1080p]\Cam (2018) - (tt8361028) [WEBDL-1080p].mkv

And perform the Plex Dance

Unfortunately, this did not work. What worked is to rename the movie to a different movie (Cam camera (2018) [WEBDL-1080p]). Now, it is added and I can change the movie to the right one manually.

Is there any chance that Plex can fix this issue? I prefer to have the movie named in the right way Cam (2018). Assume this should be easy to reproduce for the developers. Any chance to help with a bug fix?

I would try
Y:\Cam (2018)\Cam (2018) [WEBDL-1080p].mkv
And perform the Plex Dance Again…

Though I just added as Cam (2018).mkv. Found with no issues. Funny thing is the ā€œgenreā€ it’s under. Simpsons? What genre is that?

I’d like to keep the standard naming if possible.

I believe yours work only because it was picked up as something else? Genre should be thriller and mystery (and is identified as such after I added it under a ā€œfake nameā€ and the changed the title.

I am actually looking for the movie Cam (2018): https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8361028/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_1.

Did you try adding it as ā€œ\Cam (2018) [WEBDL-1080p]\Cam (2018) [WEBDL-1080p].mkvā€ and is it working for you? If not, it seems to be a reproducable issue that developers may be able to fix for an upcoming release?

No. It matched Cam 2018. Everything is correct from director to actors and the roles they played in the movie.

The truth is I don’t do movie sub-folders beyond a,b,c,d,e,etc… folders.
But for the sake of argument I did it your way. Same results.

So was this a made for TV Movie? I only ask cause IMDB lists the rating as ā€œTV-MAā€

That’s a bit odd…

I figured out the genre thing… I was re-using a test file that had embedded metadata I used as a test for something else. I removed the metadata and plexdance and the genre is now correct. But nonetheless, the movie was, and still is, matching to the correct movie.

You are saying that "\Cam (2018) [WEBDL-1080p]\Cam (2018) [WEBDL-1080p].mkvā€ works even if added in the exact identical way? If so, it does not seem to be a general Plex issue, but an issue specific to my Plex containter?

Yep. My path
\UpcomingTrailers\Cam (2018) [WEBDL-1080p]\Cam (2018) [WEBDL-1080p].mp4
No issues. Granted I have MP4 and you have MKV but I guarantee that won’t make a difference.
The one thing I can see being an issue is the Plex Dance. Don’t skip any steps. Every step is important !
