starting new plex server but can access computer for files to add but keep get plex server and i already have it installed …what do i do?
Need a little bit more information.
Do you have the server pointing to the folders for Movie & TV Shows?
okay this might be very confusing but had two severs on two different computers but the two accounts and the severs some how melded to gather in to a weird signal account and problems started iam trying to abandon both for a new start over but my new install and account but i only get “get plex media server” and no access to the hard drives on my computer
If you go to settings> Authorized Devices>Servers you can remove old servers.
still get same screen
the one in sceen shot
cant add folders to plex
The screenshot basically shows what you get to see if you access Plex without having access to a server. If you’re using the hosted web app, this means there’s no server linked to the account you’re currently logged in with. If you’re using the version bundled with your server (http://127.0.0.1:32400/web from the machine hosting your Plex Media Server), it means the server is linked to a different account – so you get to access the web app but there’s nothing there for you to access.
If this is a new install – make sure to access it using the local/bundled version of Plex Web in order to finalize the setup (http://127.0.0.1:32400/web). This should bring up a dialog where you can name your new server, link it to your account and (optionally) create your first libraries.
That is except the server is already setup and linked to a different account (see above).
If that’s the case and you’re now using the account you want to keep using – check out these support articles to unlink the server from your old account and start over:
- simply get back in → Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in? | Plex Support
- completely start over → Restart Plex Media Server Setup from Scratch | Plex Support
thanks for your help
