Can I use my Apple TV without PlexConnect running if I switch the DNS back?

My plex/plexconnect setup right now is my desktop, which I don’t want to leave running 24/7. I also don’t want to have to turn on my computer every time I use my Apple TV. Is it ok to run my Apple TV using my router’s DNS instead of plexconnect’s especially if I never use the trailers App, which is probably the only thing that bothers using the domain names plex connect changes?

Is this ok? Has any developer sniffed the network to see if only trailers uses the domains that plexconnect pretends to be?

Yes you can, but when you switch off your PC you have to put DNS in automatic in the ATV.

Some routers can also “capture” requests to trailers and wake your PC when needed (OpenWRT, Tomato, etc).

Ok. Thanks for clearing that up. I just wanted to make sure since DLNA is a big part of using my ATV.
