Can No Longer Add TV Shows

Good Morning! Please let me know if you see anything in the logs that can solve my issue with no metadata. Thanks in advance!

Keep in mind the WD MyCloud Home is running an ancient version of Plex Media Server (version 1.18.6 was released in Feb 2020; latest release is version 1.26.1 but WD isn’t distributing newer versions).

From your logs it appears the server is finding the files alright and properly associates them as episodes of the show. There’s no obvious error messages that the metadata lookups to Plex’ backend fail (although there’s probably more details in the com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb.log files).

IIRC those were introduced after the release of PMS 1.18.6

com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb.log (376.1 KB)

I cannot be 100% sure. Based on your logs it appears like TheTVDb agent on your old server version is trying to connect to an old endpoint of TheTVDb’s API (v2) that’s no longer supported. Plex have gradually updated the agents / backend components over the last 2 years to keep up with those changes.
That’s little consolation to you… but it appears the WD MyCloud Home NAS are cut off even further as that old agent can no longer keep up :frowning:

BTW… that doesn’t mean you need to drop your NAS – but maybe you should consider moving your server to a different platform and keeping the NAS solely as storage.

Thank you for your research into this issue. Is there a reasonably priced NAS that you would recommend? I need to find a different device anyway as the WD MyCloud (4 TB) I have is nearly full. I would need something with plenty of space and that a novice could set up and maintain. I will need to migrate all of the current content to it as well.

Where was this announced? I have 50,000+ files I have to rename now. 8(

I don’t think the [1x01] schema was ever officially supported. Go with the official naming convention if you want to avoid such surprises.

It was tucked into one of the release notes about movie naming and ignoring contents of brackets ~4 months ago.

Thanks. Is this the note:

  • (Scanner) Improved parsing of certain episode filename formats (#13419)

If so how do I find the actual details for it? I can’t find anywhere with further explanation

Otto had posted the link to the official naming schema above

Thanks tom80H.

I have read that a few times over the years, but it does not mention anything about removing behaviour for something that worked for 7+ years I’ve been using Plex (even if it was technically unsupported - [NNxNN] worked). It is what it is and I’m not going to “demand they restore the previous behaviour”, but my question now is how can I find out more info for Release Notes. I’m guessing #13419 is a ticket number or commit, how can I view this more detailed information? I am actually someone who scans release notes for software.

According to my knowledge you can’t.

I dont recall where I found that note about brackets, being tied to that release, I can barely remember what I had for dinner last night.
