Hi,
I’ve been using Plex for several years and it’s worked fine. Recently, however, I’m suddenly unable to add any TV shows. When I rescan the library with new TV show files they don’t appear. Movies still appear normally and I have a folder of random videos that also are still being added normally.
Set your shows library to “Episodes” view mode.
Enable the “Duplicates” filter.
Are there any duplicates shown?
If so, inspect the Plex media info of these items.
Chances are that you may find that the newly added files have been attributed as versions of already existing episodes.
Which is what is called a “mismatch”.
Thanks for your reply. There are no duplicates and my files are all named and organized pretty meticulously. This happened suddenly, I’m guessing after an update. It just stopped adding any new shows even new ones that haven’t been a part of the library previously.
Good Morning! I believe I am utilizing the proper naming format, but Plex retrieves no metadata for my shows. They play just fine, but no metadata. Please see the attached image and let me know what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance!
I am not sure how to answer that question. There was a pre-existing folder under my plex folder for “Shared TV Shows” and I created the sub-folders from there. Then I opened up my Plex account and had it scan for the shows.
Usually the Show Name is in front of the episode like so:
├── Call Me Kat (2021)
│ └── Season 02
│ ├── Call Me Kat (2021) - S02E14 - Call Me Cupid.ts
│ ├── Call Me Kat (2021) - S02E15 - Call Me Tiny Boo-Boo.ts
│ ├── Call Me Kat (2021) - S02E16 - Call Me What the Kat Dragged In.ts
│ ├── Call Me Kat (2021) - S02E17 - Call Me Flatch.ts
│ └── Call Me Kat (2021) - S02E18 - Call Me Shellfish.ts
Metadata could be DNS issue, looking at your logs would show what happens with the scanner.
Once a file has been cataloged by Plex, it needs to be removed, scan library so Plex knows it isn’t there anymore, then re-added with new name and scanned.
