I have a synergy diskstation. I updated to the most recent plex server but it would not launch. I read an article here, https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/, and went through the steps suggested. I downloaded the web server from the plex site and tried to manually install the program. After I browsed to the file and clicked on the next button, I got an error saying invalid file format. What do I need to do to install this new version of plex sever? Thank you.

I followed your instructions. Originally, I only selected the platform on the server (Windows) download page. This time, I selected Synology under the NAS subgroup and I was able to download the *.spk file. I went through the manual instal of this package. However, after the instal finished, and I viewed the packages installed, I saw that Plex was installed but not running. I clicked on the open button and that launched a new browser window that was looking for 192.168.1.2:32400/web. So I guess the package is installed, but it is not running. what are my options at this point? Also, this was not an original install of Plex. I have been running Plex on this NAS for a number of years now. I noticed an upgrade was available and tried to do the automatic upgrade and that led me down this rabbit hole.
Thank you. It was the click on plex, not the open button, that was getting me. I did not realize that you could click on plex.
