Can Plex record to HD Homerun Scribe without a subscription to HDHomerun DVR service?

Do I need to subscribe to HD Homerun DVR service to record Local tv channels using Plex?

I was wanting to record to the HdHomerun Scribe’s built in memory drive using Plex without paying for the HdHomerun dvr service.

The scribe only works with SiliconDust DVR. No other dvr software can run on the scribe.
