I just got Plex Pass to try out mobile sync stuff. One thing I’m noticing is when I play synced media when there’s still an active connection to the server it still streams from the server instead of using the local file. This is the opposite of what I want. Is there a way to conveniently force it to prioritize the synced media over server media when both are available?
I am selecting my local device as the location (local and synced content) so it only show’s the synced media. When I play one of these it still shows up on the server under “Now Playing” as playing via direct play. If I disconnect the server then it plays just fine locally, but once I connect the server up again it’ll use direct play again.
Okay, looks like this is only happening when the mobile device has a direct connection to the server. When the mobile device is connected to the server over internet (not on a local network) it appears to play the synced file instead of streaming from the server. This is the primary use case but it still would be nice for it to prioritize the synced media over local network streaming since this could be used to offload server demand for peak usage times.
