Cannot allocate folders to libraries

Is it just me, or do we not have the option to choose which folder on NAS is granted to which library anymore? Previously i had two libraries for movies, one for me and one for my kids, to separate the movies, but now when i create a new library to add their movies, there is no option to choose which folder it should feed the movies from!
thanks for any help. (I am using WD Cloud and Mac)

That’s the expected behavior if you’re running your Plex Media Server on a WD MyCloud Home. There, each library is hard-wired to a dedicated/predefined folder on your MyCloud Home.

If you want to deviate from those default mappings, you’ll need to use a different device as your server (e.g. pointing to the WD MyCloud for its storage)

Edit:
Also keep in mind that the WD MyCloud will still run on PMS 1.18.6 which was released in February 2020 (seemingly WD won’t deploy newer versions through their App Center)

thank you for this, very helpful. Is there a workaround for this? And if i should change the device instead of WD, is there a specific device you recommend? Appreciate the support mate!

There’s no workaround to that on the WD. Device requirements/recommendations will very much depend on your use case (e.g. # of streams, type of media, need to transcode…).

I mainly use it to stream movies and tv shows for the family, nothing more really… but I would want to differentiate my library that has 18+ movies from the kids … would seagate do the trick?
thanks again!
