Cannot cast downloads

I had plexamp working fine on Android 10 phone casting to Raspberry Pi. However, i am getting a message “Cannot cast downloads” on the phone today when i select raspberrypi. However, the media controls on ‘Select Player’ screen under ‘raspberrypi’ are working fine. So the phone is getting the active song details, but is unable to cast.

I have tried rebooting both phone and raspberry, but it did not fix the issue. On the other hand, i am able to cast from my Linux Desktop to raspberrypi. It seems like a Plexamp Android player problem to me.

Plexamp cannot cast downloads, maybe switch automatically to non-downloads instead?

You should be able to cast your media from the Android… just not media you had downloaded to the phone.

Casting download is not supported (yet).

I really need this again, was a thing with sync… Why did they remove it? Is there some kind of eta for new casting support? Looking forward to it (:

To be clear, Plexamp never has had support for this.

I was talking about the standard plex app (videos). Sorry if that’s not what OP meant.

Strange, it does not work for me, should I open a thread about this? Is there any info I could provide to help with the issue?

IIRC you just reacted to one of my posts in another thread.
Apparently this is not currently supported.

Is there any progress being made on the ability to cast a download or use a mobile device as a server for downloads, as either of these would be a great feature and something I have spent hours trying to get to work?

The big progress was embedding an HTTP server inside Plexamp. A fair bit of work remains, though.

Have you considered in the meantime hiding or at least disabling the Advertise, as the server feature is currently broken?

I’m sorry, I’m not sure I understand the question.

Sorry for the typo. When in Sharing under Settings, there is an option to select Advertise as server. From my testing and what I understand from research and your comment, is this Advertise as server feature does not work with Downloaded media, although it previously worked with Sync’d media, which is no longer supported and yet is still documented at Settings: Plex for Android (mobile).
