I have reinstalled Plex on my QNAP server as I kept getting an error about not being able to find the server. (Plex has worked well for over a year on this system but stopped working a few days ago.)
The reinstall seems successful, but I cannot ‘claim the server’. Have checked the FAQ, but it refers to a fresh install, which isn’t the case here?
Server Version#: 1.16.3.1402
Player Version#: Version 3.104.2
What’s the IP Address of your QNAP, as well as the workstation you are trying to claim it from?
Any error msg?
Please restart PMS, retry, and then upload a zip with the PMS logs
My IP is: 192.168.1.64
My QNAP’s IP is: 192.168.1.87
When I go to ‘debug’ in Plex, it’s not offering me the option of downloading a zip, but it does let me ‘view’ the log, so I’m uploading that here.
Also, after rebooting the QNAP, my error has now changed. Although QNAP says it’s started the Plex server, when i go into it on the AppCenter panel and click ‘open’, a Plex window opens in the browser, but that window says it can’t see any server at all now, rather than the ‘cannot claim server’ error I was getting before the reboot.
DNS set to: 192.168.1.254, and secondary set to: 8…8.8.8
The ‘default gateway’ setting is set to: “The system will automatically detect adapters that can connect to the internet and set one of them as the system default gateway”. (It says in blue text lower down that the system default gateway is now ‘Adapter 3’.
I was 4 days trying to claim a server. Days of reinstall. And changing hardware. Even factory reset phone.
What worked for me thanks to this thread…
Ubuntu 16.04
Sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces
Added Googles dns server 8.8.8.8 4.4.4.4 to the file. Restart the network and boom I can claim the server.
