I use a QNAP TS653Pro to host my Plex server. Yesterday I found out that I couldn’t log on to my Plex server from my Macs newly upgraded to a fresh install of Catalina, while I could access the server from my other iOS devices (iPads and Apple TV).
I decided to start from scratch, and removed the server install from my QNAP device. I also removed any references to the server from my Plex account.
After performing a fresh install of my Plex server on the QNAP device using the latest release (1.18.0.1944) I can’t claim my server.
I suspect this may impact the claim process and access to the server in general (e.g. what I was experiencing prior to removing the Plex server from my QNAP device).
Please note that I have installed the latest Plex version on the QNAP server. Yet I keep on getting this notification about performing a manual installation.
Also, I couldn’t exploit the link in your above reply as is is reliant on retrieving my X-PLEX-TOKEN. However, I have no Library item to browse to, and hence can’t retrieve the said token.
I have the exact same problem. Same OS (QNAP) and version. I can’t seem to claim the server at all. I have tried to log out and back in again (with both email & username) but nothing is working. I wonder if I can go back to a previous version at this point. It’s nice to know I am not the only one having these problems.
The claimit.sh program is made to help people claim their server.
It’s just shell script, where you can see it curl for your token and use that to claim your server. If you get an error, screenshot or copy/paste it in here.
It can negatively affect claiming a server if you have a VPN or ESET or other security software installed. Please follow the Plex website advice and uninstall those until you get things working.
I do not have a VPN or ESET. I get the following error when trying to run Claimit. I tried running it from the private address of my NAS (static IP) as well as the 127 address with the same results (seen below):
plex.tv Username: a307017
plex.tv Password:
plex.tv Password Repeated:
IP Address of PMS server: 192.168.2.153

I will update my firmware to 4.4.1.1081 and see if that fixes anything and report back.
Update: Installing the new version of QNAP firmware fixed the problem. I had a few oddities (like I had 2 plex servers of the same name, one it could not reach, which I deleted) after that everything was fine.
Thanks for the help. You might want to add something to the download notes that you need to be running QNAP 4.4+
Anyone running QTS beta firmware 4.4.1, PLEASE get to the final released version.
If you need to, go back to 4.3.6, restart, then jump direct to 4.4.1.1081 final. (what I needed)
It will put the NAS back in proper working sense again.
