Looks like you need to do the Plex Dance.
It deletes all info about the old version of the movie/show from your Plex system. You then add the new version and PMS scans it, downloads metadata, etc, just like for a new movie.
You will lose played/unplayed status when you do this. It will appear as a new movie/show in your system.
- Move existing media item out of the directory your Library is looking at, so Plex will not “see” it anymore
- scan the library (to detect changes)
- empty trash
- clean bundles
- double check naming schema of new version and move it into appropriate Plex library, where Plex can see it.
- scan the library.
