I added the three newest episodes of Handmaid’s Tale to my Synology in the same folder as seasons 1-3, but the new episodes are not picked up with Plex on the Synology. File permissions are identical, filenames are along the lines of Handmaid's Tale, The - S04E02 - Nightshade.mkv as are all the other episodes. I have refreshed the library several times, stopped and started the server, and checked on multiple clients (Web, iOS, Apple TV) but the new episodes do not show up and there is no sign of S4 at all. I can access the files via DSM directly and via AirPlayHD (which runs in a Docker on the Synology), but I cannot get Plex to see them (it’s been over 24 hours since I added the files)
Edit: Other shows continue to add neweposodoes properly. I can’t say that ALL new episodes are showing up, but the is the show my wife is watching that is NOT showing up, meaning she’s had to watch it on degraded mobile video throttling via Hulu.
As I said, the-remissions are identical (( use the command line much more than DSM, so I am looking at the actual permissions, not a GUI representation). Same owner, same 777 perms on the files, same group.
Alright, I have followed the steps above, though I don’t know how they are any different than verifying the file permissions and ACLs from the command line. As expected, there’s no difference in the behavior and Plex, after scanning the Library again, still has not added these three files.
OTOH, it did find some other files in other series, so that’s something.
Edit: I also moved the files out of the Media folder, scanned the library, and then moved them back and scanned again. No change.
I have many “duplicates” for episodes because of the presence in the database of references to an old library that was deleted, but none for The Handmaid’s Tale. I did renamed the files to move the “The” to the front of the name, forgot to mention that. there are also some “duplicates” where the info lists the identical path and filename.
I ran the “optimize database” earlier but that evidently does not get rid of the references to files that no longer exist in an old deleted library. (I use to separate ended series and continuing series between two different storage pools, but since growing my NAS I no longe needed to do that, but that change was made last year).
Maybe (probably?) a coincidence, but after looking at the library in folder view and navigating to “The Handmaid’s Tale” and then “s4” and then seeing three files in the directory, Plex finally updated the series and the three episodes from this week. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
