TV episodes not being recognized even though other episodes are recognized correctly

Server Version#: 1.30.1.6562
Player Version#: 1.61.1.3432-3929cb60

I recently updated my Plex server to version 1.30.1.6562. I then attempted to add episodes of new TV shows that I had downloaded, and ran a library scan per usual. I’ve been using Plex since approx 2008, and I’m familiar with the naming schema (e.g. TV Show - S01E01 - title.ext) and follow it religiously. I have followed the “Plex Dance” support article (to delete the problematic two files, perform a library scan, empty the trash, clean bundles, re-add the file back to the library, re-scan) and the files are not found. Files that I added approx 24 hours before upgrading the Plex server were recognized easily.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting and problem resolution are greatly appreciated as this is very frustrating. Many thanks in advance!

Can you post a screenshot of the files, and a copy of your server logs?

Thanks for the quick response. All of my media files are saved on a Synology diskstation server. My Plex Server is a Mac Mini connected via Cat 6 to a switch, with the Synology diskstation connected via Cat 6 as well to the same switch. Plex clients access the server either wirelessly (iOS devices) or wired via Cat 6. I can play the media file using VLC without any difficulty, so it doesn’t appear to be a corrupted file - just that Plex isn’t recognizing it. When I originally copied the file to the Synology diskstation, everything seemed to function per usual, but when I subsequently performed a library scan the file wasn’t recognized. I’ve tried to delete “The Last of Us” folder and all contents off the Synology diskstation, re-scan the Plex library, empty Plex trash, clean Plex bundles, re-add the folder/file to the Synology, re-scan Plex library, but it doesn’t show.

So the one thing I am seeing is the season folder is named incorrect, should just be Season 01 can you Plex dance the media and then upload new logs? Im not seeing the scan in the logs.

I was going to suggest the same thing about the season folder but I tried it, and it works like that

Being Synology I’m guessing permission issues

Could be, but I’m actually looking to observe the scanning of these files. Since the server is on a Mac, not sure we have the same issues we normally see on a syno.

Thank you both for responding so quickly. I tried changing the season name as suggested (i.e. to “Season 01 - The Last of Us” and then re-doing the Plex Dance, but no success after multiple attempts.

After much swearing, the solution I found involved: (1) Deleting “The Last of Us” from my Synology Diskstation, (2) Going through the Plex Dance steps, (3) Restarting my Synology Diskstation and waiting for it to come back online, (4) Restarting my Mac, (5) Copying “The Last of Us” back to the Synology Diskstation, (6) Scanning library files. It showed up on first attempt. My interpretation is that JaysPlex7 is likely correct - probably some degree of permissions issue between the Synology and the Mac, or maybe just the Synology, causing the Plex server scan to not “see” the folder/file. I honestly feel less than brilliant for not just restarting the computer and/or Synology at the onset.

Just for fun and because apparently I’m masochistic, I then deleted “The Last of Us”, re-did the Plex Dance to be as sure as I could that it was gone, and then copied it back to the Synology but using nonstandard nomenclature (i.e. The.Last.of.Us.s01e01.1080.mkv) and it showed up fine / scanned successfully. So I don’t think it was a nomenclature issue, but more likely some behind the scenes issue with the Synology.

Again, THANKS!!! to you both for even being generous enough to help. I greatly appreciate your time and willingness to assist. Cheers!
