I added Game of Thrones to my Plex Server. I have it as a TV Show. I have each season in it’s own folder and have files named as I believe they should be.
It downloads meta data but nothing ever shows up at all. I unmatch and manually match and still it does not show things right.
Here is a screenshot of the directory, name, and filename.
I tried naming the directory Game of Thrones (2011) and still get the same results.
You might need to perform a „plex dance“ after fixing the names for them to take effect.
move the GoT folder out of Plex‘s view
Re-scan your library
Empty trash / clear cache
Move the GoT back to your library folder
Re-scan your library
The above is just a general thing… once you manually match the show, it shouldn’t matter that much.
Question: do you get any metadata at all or do the items remain blank?
Which agent are you using for this library?
I did that last night. Didn’t empty trash nor clear cache.
This is on a dedicated box and accessing remotely through web and or app still shows the same outcome. Not sure if your talking web cache or some other thing.
As per Meta Data no. Nothing until I renamed the directory to “Game of Thrones 2011” and got album art but nothing else.
I am using the defaults.
Coincidentally I am having the same problem with Band of Brothers. I cant get Season info nor episode names. If I change the Folder to “Band of Brothers 2001” I get Album Art and that is all.
Screenshot of Directories and Plex shots with more info… I tried different naming conventions on BOB with episode name to try to get it. Google shows people having these same issue.
And as I said unmatching and manually matching don’t do jack.
##Message 1: as for naming… if the show-folder name contains the year, so should the episode names!
e.g. TV Shows > Band of Brothers (2001) > Season 01 > Band of Brothers (2001) - s01e01 - Currahee.mkv
being consistent and compliant with the Plex naming helps in the long run — somebody recently commented: deviating schemes work until they don’t work anymore… so why not do it right from the beginning and avoid future pains
As for google… many claim to have issues despite being 123% compliant and never having had a single prob ever… until they apply the actual naming schema and all of a sudden the prob is gone. So I don’t give Dr. Google too much credit when it comes to this kind of issues
##Message 2: on your main problem
Q1: did you derive the show poster automatically or do you have those stored locally in your tv show folders?
Q2: when you unmatch / fix match… which options do you actually get? Does Plex offer you to „fix incorrect match(es)“ or just to actually match the shows?
Q3: when you’re on your servers homepage, move your mouse over the tv show library and click on the appearing „…“ button… click „edit library“ and go to the „advanced“ tab. There you should find the settings which scanner and agent are being used for this particular library … can you post this information?
If you don’t follow all the steps for the Plex dance, it won’t work. You must perform all the steps in that order.
Check the xml for one of these episodes. Find the guid. Does it include the term “TheTVDB” or does it say “local”. If it’s local, then it didn’t match and there is a problem with pms. You’ll need to provide your pms logs after trying another manual match so we can check what is going on.
