Hi there,
I have (almost) the entire back catalogue of Looney Tunes on my server, but Plex just won’t download metadata for it. I’ve tried matching, unmatching, refreshing and renaming. When matching, it finds ‘Looney Tunes’ on The TVDB, and I select it, but it still doesn’t download metadata.
This is the series in TVDB: http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=72514&lid=7
And this is how it’s organised on my server:
…\video\TV Shows\Looney Tunes\Season 1929\Looney Tunes - S1929E01 - Bosko, the Talk-Ink Kid (dvd) [Pixar].mkv
all the way up to
…\video\TV Shows\Looney Tunes\Season 1969\Looney Tunes - S1969E06 - The Great Carrot Train Robbery (dvd) [Pixar].mkv
Is it due to the seasons being names as years? Note that this is how they appear on The TVDB.
Previously the season folders were just e.g. \1930\ rather than \Season 1930
I’ve also tried it as …\1930\S1930E01 - Sinkin’ in the Bathtub (dvd) [Pixar].mkv
But I just can’t get Plex to download metadata.
The Looney Tunes entry under TV Shows has no poster, likewise the seasons have no posters. The videos have thumbnails, but there is no metadata (i.e. episode names - just numbers). There are also no tags, etc in the series info.
Now, it is a HUGE series, with 1001 episodes - so could it be that?
Or is it something funky with the naming (I don’t have any other series that use years for season numbers).
Happy to post any logs if you need 'em.
Your help is appreciated; thank you.
Plex is running on an unRAID server (v6.2) as a Docker. Plex is version 1.1.4.2757.
Server specs: HP MicroServer gen8 - Celeron G1610T - 16GB ECC RAM - Dell PERC H310 (flashed to IT fw) running: 2x 4TB Seagate NAS ST4000VN000-2AH166; 1x 4TB Seagate ST4000VN000-1H4168. On-board controller running: 1x 128GB Samsung 840 PRO SSD; 1x 120GB Corsair Force 3 SSD.
I’ve been having a similar issue where it will load all the show descriptions with certain shows but wont download any posters/banners/fanart for the show and episodes. No idea why.

Your naming and folder organisation is flawless.
If your tv show library points exactly to ...\video\TV Shows\ this should work.
Did you add the files first, and then when it wouldn’t register them renamed them only later to a conforming file and folder structure?
If so, you need to perform the Plex Dance
Be cautious and add only 1 - 3 seasons at once.
Now, it is a HUGE series, with 1001 episodes - so could it be that?
Are other tv shows affected too? (Particularly recently added ones)

I don’t know the Docker environment.
Make sure that the Plex Docker has a working local loopback address (usually it is 127.0.0.1, but other addresses starting with 127.x.x.x are also possible).
I haven’t done the dance since I changed the file names from ‘…/Season 1930/S1930E01 - Episode Name.ext’ so I will move the directory out of the TV Shows folder, then do the jig, and move it back a few seasons at a time.
To answer your other questions:
Library points to …\TV Shows
No other TV Shows are affected
I don’t know how to check if there is a working local loopback address. There are many other Plex Docker users on unRAID (http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=40654.0) so I assume it’s fully working. If there is a test you can mention, I’m happy to run it.
I will do the dance now and report back.
Thanks for your help.
Ok, I’ve done the dance and moved just the first two seasons over; it has not helped; there is still not poster, tag, etc data for this TV Show.
Any further thoughts? Should I post my scanner logs?
Woah! No! The poster just popped up!
I shall continue moving each season over bit by bit.
Thanks so much!
