Cannot Match Specific Title, Even When Using IMDB ID

Hello-

I am having trouble matching a title to this film: Joy to the World (2025) - IMDb

Typically I have been able to put in the title and year and it finds films no problem, even if I have to manually select. If that fails, I just put in the IMDB id (tt38785668 in this case) and that has always worked as my backup. But for this film I have been unable to match to it.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Looks like this was only fairly recently added to TMDb and might not yet have been ingested into Plex‘s metadata repository.

What is the typical timeframe for new TMDB and TVDB entries to be imported into Plex’s agent database? This movie was first created on TMDB on Oct. 28 and still does not appear to be present in Plex’s agent database over a week later.

Usually, Plex should pickup such updates in 2-4 days. Though, there’s recently been instances where new records took a little longer to be populated in Plex‘s metadata backend (I’ve seen examples where it temporarily took up to 2-3 weeks).

I agree with tom80H, you’ll just have to wait. I did create a test “Joy to the World.mp4” file. Like you, my Plex box doesn’t recognize it. I also have Jellyfin on that box and it does recognize the movie. I’ve even seen a couple things take a bit longer than 2 weeks. I know its frustrating but it is what it is.

Yeah seems slow to add new stuff. Been over a week since The Rats: A Witcher Tale (2025) came out and it still can’t be matched despite entries on all metadata db sites. Even tried a .plexmatch file with no luck.

You can still manually match
 once an item has been ingested into Plex‘s metadata backend. While Plex hasn’t done that, you can try anything but won’t get any metadata from Plex for that movie/show (no manual matching, no plexmatch, no matter if you try to match by title, ID or matching hints).

I just did a “refresh metadata” on my “Joy to the World” test file and it is now matching. Give it a try.

yeah, but I mean, before you could select IMDB manually or even add your own information and poster.

 you could provide the IMDb id with the legacy Plex Movie agent (the same way, you can do today). That didn’t use IMDb as metadata source entirely (iirc, that
legacy agent was using IMDb for movie titles).

Though, you could select from a wider range of agents, which did directly point to a repository/source (sometimes this involved a clone/proxy of the source data). With the publishing of Plex‘s API, Plex will also bring back an option for developers to build native / alternative agents.

You could and still can manually edit metadata of movies and shows

I can confirm this is now matching correctly.
