Cannot play back files remotely

Server Version#: 1.20.4.3517
Player Version#: Amazon Firestick
Please could someone help me resolving what I believe is a Linux permissions/ownership issue.
I am trying to set up remote access for my mother to one of my Plex servers. Remote access seems to be working (although only currently tested on the same lan) and I can view all content but when I click on a file to play I get the Error " The File associated with this item is not accessible by the server. Please verify that the file exists and the necessary drive is accessible" The server is a Ubuntu 18.04 based PC and the media folder is a second hard drive mounted as Data1. Initially the problem was that the drive was not auto-mounting at boot but I have resolved this now. however I have a feeling the problem is a permissions issue. The drive is an internal connected SATA drive not USB. The media directory for TV content is called “TV Shows” which contains five further folders for the various show titles. there is also a Movies folder for films. Strangely any content in this folder plays back without error. Here is the output from ls -l

john@TorrentPC:/Data1/TV Shows$ ls -l
